  1. where is the fan's open letter to the players and owners? A letter to "Please sirs, kindly get off your backsides and get it done, get the season started, or we will take our hard earned money elsewhere during these difficult economic times, and you will not have any profits to worry about sharing. As much as we (I) love hockey, there is such a thing as customer satisfaction and loyalty. You (both the NHLPA and owners) are (or should be)fully aware that WE the fans are your customers, and if poor product reduces customer satisfaction, what do you think NO product does?" (or something to this general effect) If there's one out there, can someone please tell me where to sign up!? I really do believe they need to hear it... they should remember that, in many ways, your customer is your ultimate boss
  2. even if he's an egotistical overpaid underachiever? naw... I'd far rather have the guy that brings it consistently, is eloquent, articulate, well respected throughout the league, and leads by example... Gleason or Whitney, but first we've gotta get rid of the REAL controlling force in the locker room - Ron Francis.
  3. Ok... I'll admit it... it's MY fault!... spoke to Mr. Rutherford at lunch on the first day of training camp... last time I did this was the epic "letdown" season after we won the cup, and that year we became the first team to win the cup and not make the playoffs the next year... now this... I'm done, will skip the first day of training camp from now on!
  4. 3 games - A clean hit, from a guy known to make crushing, but clean, hits results in a suspension of the same length that broke a players neck by a run-taking goon?? Tucker should be banned from hockey... how many times have we seen this whiner turn his back to a hit that he knew was comingand make the hit look dirty - for god's sake Tucker looked straight at Ruutu and turned his back to the hit!!!
  5. [quote name='caniac-97 wrote: fallen_apostle']Hey are any of you open to meeting people while tailgating, or is it sort of a family/friend only type of thing? I won't be there Opening night, but just wondering for several of the weekend games that I always go to. And no I don't want to be a moocher haha, just would like to meet fellow Caniacs. not a family thing but a Caniac thing, i am usually parked in the west lot in the handicapped spaces near the west entrance. will have a couple of tables setup, chairs, and a popup. always bring extra because you don't know who might stop by. You mean like Ken Ward coming over (right by the general parking handicap spaces on the west side) to rub my son's freshly buzzed head while he (my son) was playing street hockey (goalie of course) before game 1 vs. Montreal in '06?? Funny, but he declined a beer/soda - don't think he quite got the "southern hospitality" thing at that point... Still waiting for him to come back around and see how much that little kid has grown since... woot! also just found out that no one else in the family has claimed one of our seats - and will be attending in person! will probably get there around 1715 or so, but will be in the west premier handicapped section - god, thank-you for my 80yr old dad's new knees and the accompanying handicap sticker for good parking (even though "premier" part was my idea)
  6. I'll admit - you were right in a way - upon closer inspection the smaller screens and rings aren't as "HD" as the main screens - but still far better than the old. seeing it shut down you can tell the pixels aren't as close as they are on the main screen. look at the positive side - We were both right on that... they really need to sort out the PP/PK counter issues - and I'm with JR - put 'em on the ribbon, but put them in the 4 corners so they're visible to all, and people will figure out which corner works best for their seats.

Star Trek, The Voyage Home. That awful whale movie. I do love Scotty trying to talk to the computer and Bones giving the woman the kidney pill. smilin' bob wins the cupie doll!! but TSA's right - back on topic - because yesterday while working on my own "acute post-prandial upper abdominal distention" via a sausage at the deck, I overheard a discussion that indicates that apparently some observations on here have been heard I'll be at the game Friday to pick up my cupie doll.... ...The main comment I'd have was the way the power play information is displayed... eh hem... that is exactly the topic I overheard being discussed... guess smilin' bob's got pull...
  8. there is some serious bad juju in being an attempt to replace Cullen... let's not wish that on Sutter...

  10. nope - neither did Staal - Jussi looked pretty good - no obvious effects from the finger injury that you could tell from the stands

  12. first of all - I noticed that you sit down low - since the jumbotron is a bit wider than the old one, it may be an angle issue - try looking at it from the 200's or 300's - then it'll be clearer. Even the old one looked better from the 200's than the 100's. second - "seamless glass" as you describe it ("one piece from corner-to corner") is impossible - a break in the glass would end the game - would take hours or even days to put up an entire new side of glass (not to mention some serious heavy lifting equipment to lift a single pane of glass that enormous!) even from corner - to - box (player or penalty, depending on the side) would be a massive piece weighing a ton or so (leaving aside the fact that a sheet of glass that complicated and large would be inherently unstable simply due to the nature of glass itself, and would have to be a couple of inches thick to be stable enough to withstand the punishment it would have to take) - plus, it would be prohibitively expensive can you imagine how much that would cost? nevermind the safety issue - an entire 100 some odd feet of glass shattering all over the lower 3-4 rows of fans because some guy gets checked through the glass at one end?? so, until they come up with something clear yet tougher than steel yet lighter than glass this is pretty much as good as it gets, simply due to physics. Have hope, I'm pretty sure that one day they'll do it - and I'll enjoy it too...knowing my luck, they'll probably come up with it when I'm too old and senile to follow a hockey game. oh, and I'm with you on the cleaning issue - perhaps they'll start doing that for the regular season games.
  13. why would Bret not get the chance because Francis accepted a trade to a playoff team for one more shot at the cup vs. "retiring as a 'Cane" - to my mind the situations and circumstances were different for each player. Plus, everybody knew that Ron would get his number in the rafters.
  14. 1) kinda disappointed in the price hikes for concessions - $9 beer - that stinks!! 2) the new jumbotron is a HUGE improvement - they're probably still working out the sceme on the upper part and aren't really going to go all out until regular season, and if you call those upper screens "low res" then you need new glasses - HUGE improvement!!! I do agree that they need to do something better with the PP / PK times etc. they're hard to see. 3) the new glass IS "seamless" or at least as close as they can come to it and still maintain safety standards - the panes on the ends have to have the extra support due to the punishment they recieve, the sides no longer have the metal supports. honestly though, if you're so upset you could give me your tickets...
  15. killjoy... actually they could probably broker a deal through the NHL and NHLPA that would circumvent that - to be done as a gesture. There are ways of doing everything... a prorated 1 - game contract would be a cap hit of $6067.56
