  1. Get your round two picks in! Games start tonight!
  2. I had the same thought about the puck tracking, Rem. Although all of us are hardcore viewers, so we're used to following the play. I wonder if it would be helpful for any newer viewers who don't have a clue what's going on initially. I did opine about it being distracting for me, though.
  3. Fair enough, it's definitely not your typical writing style. I was just excited to get some coverage outside of local media.
  4. One tweet defines your whole Sara Civ experience? Yikes. That's unfortunate for you. Her articles are great imo. If you enjoy something different, you should definitely subscribe.
  5. I thought you were done with our loss to Pittsburgh....
  6. Darling cleared, as expected. Zykov did not. Headed to Edmonton.
  7. Surprised to see so many Brian Burke burner accounts on these boards. Fun is fun. Winning is fun. Crowd loves it. What's to dislike?
  8. If it's Cam in net, two words: HIGH GLOVE
  9. AT CANES @ BOLTS (4-1-1) (2-1-0) When last we met, we saw a historic start come to an abrupt end at the hands of an early Stanley Cup favorite Jets squad. The Canes finish up a brutal three-game fair road-trip stretch inside Amalie Arena, where they look to bounce back against the Bolts and come away with 4 of a possible 6 road points. A start predicted by few, but adored by many, has seen the Canes come out of the gates, efforting their way to a 4-1-1 record through six games. Despite the success, there are a few areas of concern thus far. Special teams The Canes are currently second in the league in goals scored, but the powerplay is operating at a measly 9.5%, good for 25th in the league. The percentage will undoubtedly rise over the course of the season, but the power play needs to be effective if the Canes want to break into the post season. Additionally, the PK has also been bad. 28th in the league, 66.7% bad. Special teams as a whole must improve. Goaltending Petr Mrazek played a helluva game Sunday night in Winnipeg and gave us ample opportunities to win, including a point blank save on a 2-on-0. Meanwhile, McBackup was serviceable in Minnesota, but looked a little shaky at times. Who gets the nod in Tampa? Third line woes This is much less of a problem to me if the other three lines continue to be dangerous and produce. At some point, Necas will need some help on his wing if he wants to live up to the pre-season hype that was bestowed on him early. Tampa will be the home squad with the ability to create the matchups they want, so it'd be a great time for the third line to break through and get us another road win. Looks like we're rolling the same lineup as the Jets game. Mrazek in net.
  10. You can certainly feel this way, but I'm gonna enjoy it while it's happening
  11. Y'all. Y'ALL. We're banking October points. What is this life?
  12. We have so many guys who you could make a legitimate argument for keeping in Raleigh on both offense and defense. What a great problem to have.
  13. He looked sound and he was huge. Took a couple of penalties, one of which was a freak play where he tried to glove the puck and batted it over the glass in our end. But the announcers said his name a lot, and not in a "he got burned" way.
  14. I'll definitely be interested to see if the effort level can be matched tonight by the vets. Last night's squad featured guys trying to prove a point and make a team, so the energy level was nice, but expected. We'll see if the "old men" decide to match and see what Brindy hockey is really all about! Ha...Rem beat me to it. What he said.
  15. Mike Forman cleared up the voting totals discrepancy noted by Rem...according to Forman on the Sec 328 podcast, the fan vote will count for about a third of the decision. The remaining two-thirds will be the marketing staff, as well as Dundon/DW's input.
  16. If you're going where I think you're going with this, hopefully appropriate action is taken by the mods. This is grade-A bush league.
  17. Count me in the camp who was skeptical about the Brindy hiring, but after hearing the presser, am more on board than not. He sold me his goods, and I liked what I heard. Getting rid of co-captains is a great step 1. Just when I thought I was out...
  18. Great post, Hag. The league is full of copycats. When LA was winning with their big, grinding, defensive style, everyone wanted to be like them. What have we seen more recently? Pittsburgh's speed. I think we finally built the team we wanted to build...in 2013. Evolving to the game is all part of being a good coach. I'm afraid there's no evolution to be seen with this group.
  19. I told my buddy this was almost worse than doing nothing. Felt like management was half-heartedly throwing the fanbase a bone.
  20. I'd probably take a bare cupboard if it meant having a chance at a three-peat. These things are cyclical. Nobody's good forever. Get the hardware while you can.
  21. Welcome to the boards, and a heck of a first post. I think everyone here went into this season with the expectation that Ward would be starting a fraction of the games Darling would get, and would be able to come in as a viable backup during back to backs. Ward has had a very good season (admittedly by his own standards), and Darlings play has forced HCBP's hand in giving him the balance of the starts down this stretch. Would you rather watch Darling constantly spit the bit? We are severely lacking in goal scoring currently and Ward has provided us ample opportunity to win. I'm no Ward apologist by any means, but this is the hand we've been dealt this year and starting Ward has been the right call, IMO, of course.
  22. And in LA a couple years back. Technology has come a long way.
  23. Definitely don't think you're alone. I posted my lament a couple weeks back (admittedly before the winning streak) and I still pretty much feel the same way. I trust the process and all that jazz. Just getting harder and harder to stomach the same old BS year in, year out.
  24. Good point, and I probably should've posted that in all my ramblings as well. The one common denominator in all of our playoff woes is the man up top. And Wardo. Just kidding
