  1. Caniac brought up yet another great point earlier (i.e., on page 4 of this thread). It totally baffles me how some people on this board can get by with violating the rules while others can't. This person ("Melissa") should have been banned long ago. In fact, I don't even like this board due to the extreme level of empathy that is shown toward a select few. I am sure if a Hurricanes fan logged on to the Sabres' board, spouting off this rubbish, he/she would be shown the door in less than a milli-second. By the way, people are generally taken more seriously if they employ the proper use of capitalization, punctuation, and spelling. hey kid. you dont have do put my name in quotations. my names Melissa, not "Melissa". k thanks. Okay, Melissa. FYI, I am not a "kid", so don't call me that. "k thanks."
  2. **HUGS BACK**, 300. I have just about had it with certain people here. Sure, they "innocently" come here under the false pretense that they just want to know what Canes' fans are talking about, but I find it highly offensive when they log on, post links that make my blood pressure sky-rocket, and spout off obscenities (which is in direct violation of the board rules)--all without repercussions. Day after day, they log on, probably hoping to start an argument. They certainly don't come here hoping that Canes' fans will be appreciative of their so-called contributions to our board. I wish they would do the right thing and permanently leave because most of the people here aren't going to see eye-to-eye with them on most issues anyway. When it keeps true, good-natured Hurricanes' fans from using our own board (and you and I can't be the only ones), it just isn't right.
  3. This is the exact reason why I'm not posting on (or even bother reading)here much anymore. Exactly.

  5. SF55, If you had closely read what I originally posted, I implied that the fans will have an excuse--not the Sabres themselves. I never said that the Sabres made excuses, but the fans certainly did all throughout the ECF last spring. By the way, you guys can like "Melissa" and "Boon" all you want, but it was Melissa who "innocently" posted a link on our temporary board to a Buffalo radio station interview with Daniel Briere. That broadcast completely bashed our team, our fans, and our state. Nice post, Melissa. Especially your follow-up post, pretending you didn't know the content of the interview. You wrote something to the effect... "Oops. Maybe I shouldn't have posted that." How you have won favor with some of our fans, I will never know.
  6. The 'Canes will have revenge on their minds after the October 6th debacle... Hurricanes 4:2 CAR: Brindy, Williams, Walker, Cole NJ: Gionta, Gomez
  7. Am I the only person here who doesn't feel sorry for the Sabres? Injuries were bound to happen to them sooner or later. Look on the bright side, Sabres' fans. At least now you'll have an excuse for any future losses.
  8. Hurricanes 5:2 I will never pick our opponent to win. CAR: Staal, Williams, Walker (2), Brindy OTT: Heatley, Spezza
  9. Classic McGeough. How is he still officiating in the NHL after his performance in last season's playoffs?
  10. Well then, support your team. I have no problem with that. However, if you sincerely like the Hurricanes, you have a very strange way of showing it.
  11. Sorry. Maybe that was a bit strong. Although I sometimes wonder why you don't spend more time on the Montreal board. I equate many of your posts with trolling. If a newbie joined the Hurricanes' board and began posting some of the stuff that you do, he would likely be banned or at least given a warning. Nothing against you personally. I just become a bit defensive when it comes to my team. :-) I am sure that if I, a 'Canes fan, joined the Habs' board and posted the links in my previous post, that wouldn't go over too well. The difference is, I would never do that.
  12. What are you, WTP, the resident troll? Anyway, I thought I would help you out since you seem "directionally challenged". First, last year's playoff run... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jajUDYfliIc And a bit of history... ENJOY!!!
  13. Not looking for trouble, eh? Why don't you post highlights of Round 1, Game 6? Particularly the gwg by Stillman!!!
  14. I love fm's design. 8) If that ever became our third jersey, I would be the first in line to buy one.
  15. The players we have will step up and do fine. I boldly predict that we will make the playoffs, although I don't think we will be seeded as highly as we were last season. JR has wisely managed things financially to the point that if we need to sign rental players like Recchi and Weight to help us down the stretch, then we will have the means to do so. Many teams won't have that luxury. We are just missing so many key players right now. Stillman's absence alone has resulted in a total reshifting of our lines. Of course, completely losing AWard (and Kaberle for the time being) hurts. AWard was my 8-year-old's favorite defenseman, and he was very disappointed when Aaron left. When we work with him on arithmetic flashcards, he doesn't give us the numerical answer. He responds with the player's name (i.e., 4x4=Ladd; 20-3=Brindy). If he has a card with the answer of 4, he responds "traitor". It doesn't help that we seem to have a revolving door on our extensive injury list, and most of our injuries so far have been to defensemen. In addition to losing AWard, I really hated that we lost Gerbs. He and Wardo were a solid tandem in net, and with Wardo's playoff experience, they would have only gotten better this year. Our team is currently at .500 which is not bad, considering the adversity our team has had to overcome in this young season. We just need to maintain consistency from one night to the next. Some nights they show glimpses of being the team we all knew and loved last year. Other nights they are physically at the game, but not mentally in it. I am optimistic that they will find their groove and find it soon.
  16. A more detailed article about Ron's new position... http://www.carolinahurricanes.com/custom/rad3D685.asp
  17. You're right, tsa. I unfortunately had to work on the coast all day yesterday (~ a 3 1/2 hour drive from the RBC Center), knowing full well there was a game starting at 7:00. I got up at 3:00 a.m. so that I could finish my job and get to the arena in time for the pre-game skate. The traffic was horrible last night, and after taking several detours, we finally got there about mid-way through the skate. I couldn't believe the number of seats that were empty for the opening face-off. That was pathetic. And as if that wasn't bad enough, people in my section were showing absolutely no emotion throughout the entire game--even before the 'Canes started to self-destruct. My family tried to get a few "Let's Go 'Canes" chants started, but people just lamely sat there, as if they were attending the Carolina Ballet. I mean, this is a hockey game, for Pete's sake, not a wine and cheese social event. Thank goodness for Mean Gene's rally horn or else it would have been quiet enough to hear a pin drop.
  18. Hurricanes 5:4 CAR: Cole (2), Staal, Walker, Brind'Amour MTL: Ryder, Koivu, Kovalev, Begin
  19. I agree 100% with wardo30. As long as Cam is winning, he needs to be in net. What better way to build confidence in our young netminder? Not to mention that it was Cam who was instrumental in getting us past the Habs in the first round of the playoffs last year. Brodeur carries the load for NJ. I have no clue who the Devils' backup goaltender is. If Cam begins to show signs of fatigue, then the 'Canes will probably work Grahame into the line-up, but until then, I hope that Cam is the one to carry the load for us.
  20. Great article, although the writer referred to the Hurricanes as the "Carolina Panthers" in the fourth paragraph. Wow, I knew he was tough, but I didn't realize that Jesse played in the NFL! Anyway, it is great to see that Jesse is doing well in Albany. He was a fan favorite among many in Canesville. Thanks for posting the link, Max, and best of luck to the River Rats!
  21. This board is far better than the "temporary forum". I lurked there, but never posted.
  22. Hurricanes 4:2. We will beat the Thrash in regulation. Allowing them one point in OT is one point too many. 8) Goals by: Staal (2), Williams, and Walker. GO 'CANES!!!
  23. So excited that the board is back! Major props to everyone involved. It was well worth the wait! GO 'CANES!!!
