  1. I agree 100 percent. Semin had some injuries last season that probably contributed to his lack of production. That being said, if some of his linemates were playing better he would have had quite a few more assists. I thought that on many nights, his passing was brilliant. I expect that he will make believers out of some people next year and I hope that he will be a Hurricane next season.
  2. Carolina Bound? Garrioch also believes the Edmonton Oilers could trade forward Sam Gagner in exchange for a goaltender from the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes could trade Cam Ward, Justin Peters or Anton Khudobin according to Garrioch.
  3. Although it certainly didn't seem like it at the end of the second period, I got lucky and scored some last minute free tickets to the game last night. That place was rocking in the third period. Not a sell out and it was obvious that many had left during and at the end of the second, it was playoff loud in the third. Most fun that I have had at a game in the past few years.
  4. Don't the Hurricanes still have one (new CBA) buyout left that they can use prior to the start of next season?
  5. Every once and a while, I wish that there was a "like" button on the individual posts. This was one of them fpsndiver.
  6. I do agree with all of the posts. PK, sign the guy. Is is a pleasure watching Alexander Semin playing hockey. It's is obvious that he is a near perfect fit on this team. He does seem to be happy, he is always smiling and seems very engaged with his team mates. The simple fact is, with his talent and with the way that he is playing this year he can play for any team in the NHL except that I really doubt he would go back to the Caps. If he wants to stay a Hurricane, I'm sure that a deal will be worked out. If he wants to go after the money in the open market. He has that. Some one said earlier that if he signs that they will buy a Semin jersey. I have never owned any player name gear but if he does sign, I will get a Semin #28 jersey too.
  7. I, Cheapseats, will completely get over all of the anger that had built up over the negotiations during the lockout on the day that a settlement is announced and will, once again, be completely juiced about the Hurricanes season starting. Go Canes
  8. Canes Acquire Kevin Westgarth from Los Angeles Carolina sends Anthony Stewart and two draft picks to Kings Sunday, 01.13.2013 / 12:15 PM RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has acquired forward Kevin Westgarth from the Los Angeles Kings. In exchange for Westgarth, Carolina has traded forward Anthony Stewart, its 2013 fourth-round draft pick and a sixth-round selection in the 2014 draft to the Kings. “We were looking for a character, team guy who can play a gritty role for our team,” said Rutherford. “Kevin is a good addition to fill that spot.” Westgarth, 28, is entering his seventh professional season. In 2011-12, he played 25 games with Los Angeles, notching one goal, earning one assist (2 points) and accumulating 39 penalty minutes. In 90 career NHL regular-season games with the Kings, the Amhurstberg, Ont., native has earned five points (1g, 4a) while totaling 153 penalty minutes. Westgarth appeared in all six of the Kings’ 2011 postseason games, recording two assists, 14 penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating. Westgarth (6’4”, 234 lbs.) originally signed with Los Angeles as a free agent on March 16, 2007, after four seasons at Princeton University. In addition to his NHL experience, he has totaled 22 goals, 28 assists (50 points) and 580 penalty minutes in 224 American Hockey League (AHL) games with Manchester. Wow. lots going on. Traded for Stewart and two draft picks. I am not really familiar with Kevin Westgarth except that I knew that he lives in Raleigh. It apears that we finally got us an enforcer? Help out if you are familiar with his game. http://www.latimes.c...0,1256689.story
  9. All teams names go in the hat and drawn one through the last if there is no season. Possible that The Kings could get the number 1 pick. As I understand, if there is no season, Semin will be a free agent at midnight on 30 June 2013.
  10. Nice silver lining rem, thanks I needed that.
