  1. The problem with trading Lindy, skinner, or Hanifin is that they are just about to start entering their prime years. canes have endured the struggles of them developing at the NHL level while they established themselves. The next few years is when the canes would most likely reap the rewards
  2. Is anyone really concerned about 2020 offseason? Who cares...this team needs to win October 2018. No no need to be concerned about anything else.
  3. If for some reason, the sabres took Svech, dundon & Waddell should literally sprint up to the podium to take Dahlin. Then go back to the table and trade 2 current dmen for offensive help
  4. I have a bad feeling that the Canes will severely regret trading Skinner... i do feel that he requested a trade though
  5. Just my opinion, but my instincts are that skinner either asked for a trade or made it known he won’t be re-signing with the team when his contract is up....probably through his agent. i think he had enough is getting bounced around with different line mates every other shift.
  6. coach of the year voting already took place after regular season. I don’t think playoffs matter for that.
  7. Kruger wasn’t going to play in Carolina next year. Surprised they found a taker while keeping minimal salary. Not a bad move.
  8. It was a forgone conclusion that TD would bring in his own management team once he bought the team. With the sale dragging on almost 2/3 of the season before it closed, there was not much TD could change at that point. Once it became apparent that the Canes were out of the playoff race, it was time for action. It it would’ve been more interesting had the Canes made the playoffs. It would’ve been much harder publicly to get rid of the coach and GM. Although I feel he still probably would’ve still replaced them. You spend 300 million dollars, I think he is well within his rights to restructure the management team anyway he sees fit. Besides, who knows if Francis even wanted to stay on as GM. He was PKs guy.
  9. Dahlin is going #1. No need to even waste a brain wave on any other scenario.
  10. The only way to get the elite talent is usually to draft #1 or #2. After the first 2 picks, there is usually a drop off. Canes need to take the Russian. After that, there is a drop off. Could end up picking a player like Lindholm, who I like, but is not the elite scorer the Canes need. do not use the #2 pick to fix the goalie situation. That can be fixed using different assets.
  11. Why do I have the feeling the Canes will take Zadina... The Canes can’t afford to mess this up. They have been thrown the good fortune of a lifeline in the lottery. The #2 pick has made things much easier this offseason. This is is the chance RF never was able to get. Imagine if they would’ve won the lottery and got Laine how much quicker the rebuild would’ve been
  12. The Sabres are taking Dahlin. No need to even worry about it. It would be like the oilers passing on McDavid the year he was the lock for #1. You really think you need to give Sabres something to make sure they take Dahlin? Are you guys going crazy? If for some reason sabes get stupid, Canes take Dahlin and that is that.
  13. Yeah. This is the kind of thing the Canes needed. Lift the back cloud away that feels like has been hovering. finally something positive to generate some buzz
  14. This pick is huge. Need to make sure they make the correct pick. Can’t miss on this one.
  15. That was the most excitement the Canes have provided in 9 years
  16. A top 3 pick should make the Canes GM job more attractive though
  17. If the Canes end up with number 2 or 3, maybe they will trade pick away
  18. Dahlin is a beast. No need to consider anything if you get him. No-brainer. Make the pick and move on. Figure the rest out later....
  19. There is no way #1 pick gets moved by whoever gets it. If the canes get get first pick, it will open the door wide open to move some of the current D men to get the offensive help they need.
  20. The problem with Peters was his constant line changes. Never really gave guys a chance to develop chemistry. He usually gave a line 1 period before the blender got fired up
  21. At least the Flames have a goalie that can stop some pucks....
  22. If the Canes hire a coach before a GM, I will finally give up on this team. IMO, if they do really want Brindamour as coach, hire the GM first and let that person make the call. I don’t think there will be other teams that would hire him Rod as HC right now, so I don’t think there should be any rush
  23. The problem is that any top GM candidate is going to sign up if they don’t bring in their own coach. im finally starting to get nervous...
  24. If any coach is hired before the next GM iOS announced the Canes are in trouble
