  1. I'm just happy to have a hockey team. Go ahead & don't show up to support the team & you'll see what it feels like to not have a hockey team. I'd rather watch this team finish dead last than not have a team to watch at all.
  2. Aaron Ward got what was coming for him. I certainly have no sympathy for the guy & don't wish him well. He's always been a jerk, even when he played here, and I'm glad to see someone stand up to him. He was the 1 player on the Stanley Cup team that I was thrilled to see go, regardless of how good he was.
  3. Did anyone see the 6:00 news on ABC 11 last night? A friend of mine says he believed he saw a photo of the new alternate on there.
  4. I found it interesting that the last stretch of the season is against opponents who are all outside of the division. I guess its cool for a change, although I'm a big fan of battling divisional opponents down the final stretch.
  5. Who do you think is going to give us a veteran enforcer and young rookie for the 2 highest paid, washed up players on our team?
  6. Don't forget about Casey Borer either. He's a promising young guy who could move up if we need him.
  7. I park in the lot beside Carter Finley & its never taken me more than 10 minutes to get out of the parking lot. Its crazy to park in the RBC Center lots, you can never get out of them.
  8. I love how they miss the playoffs then jack up prices on everything. I wouldn't be surprised to see a drop in attendance. I know for me, I bought a 24-game plan last year, but I won't be able to afford to take the 26-game route this season. After you add in $10 to park, the ridiculous amount it costs me to drive from Roxboro to Raleigh & the increase in ticket prices, I just can't afford it. Parking alone is an extra $260 beyond your ticket price a season for 26 games now. It costs me about $35 to commute now. That's $910 for 26 games. Thats $1170 before I even consider how much my game plan would cost. With people already buying less due to the outrageous cost of fuel, it was not a smart decision to raise prices so much, especially considering you have missed the playoffs the last 2 seasons.
  9. I would never wish a serious injury on anyone, but I've been saying for years that players like Avery would eventually get what they diss out. I'm glad it seems that he will be ok, but I'm not gonna sit here & say anything nice about him. I hope he recovers & this doesn't harm him in the future, but it wouldn't be a bad thing at all if he hung up the skates. He has made a mockery of hockey his entire career & I hope this will open his eyes.
  10. I want my money back now, I don't want it applied towards next season when I can have it sitting in an account drawing interest until then. There is no benefit for anyone but the Canes to allow them to keep my money. You're telling me if I'm a STH, I can't get my money back?
  11. Biggest Bandwagon Pessimist of the Year: Rob123xyz I wasted precious time of my life reading that pointless post. At least spell a player's name right if you're such a "fan".
  12. Anyone who thinks we need to fire Lavi didn't follow Hurricanes hockey until we won the Cup. If you were around for the early stages of this franchise, you would be very appreciative of the job Lavi is doing. The guy won us a Stanley Cup in RALEIGH, NC!!! Not Detroit, not Montreal, not New York, but Raleigh, NC. We've become spoiled here. I think its amazing that this team played as well as they did down the stretch considering the number of injuries this team has had. This team lost its captain & an all-star from a year ago, but still managed to be hot down the stretch. Its just unfortunate that Washington was arguable the hottest team in the league down the stretch.
  13. You hope Brindy retires, but think this team needs leadership? Have you seen this guy's work ethic & dedication, even after winning a Cup? Did you see him play the entire OT period in the season finale last season although the playoffs were out of reach? You won't find a better leader in this league than Rod Brind'Amour. I honestly believe that. He has every leadership quality that Eric Staal does not. I love Eric Staal, but I think he's far from being ready to become the leader of this hockey team. If Brindy & Wesley (I think Wesley will) both retire, you're missing all of your leadership & those are some big shoes to fill.
  14. I've said all along that I don't think Cam Ward is a starting goaltender in this league. I love Cam, but as of right now, he's a very quality back-up, but the consistency you need in a starter isn't there. However, to blame everything on him is extremely unfair. Defensive breakdowns have haunted us all season & the same happened tonight. The addition of Corvo was great & Wesley's play down the stretch was huge, but we need something more. There are just way too many mistakes & breakdowns defensively. Also, the 5-forward PP has given up way too many SH goals this season & it happened again last night. Although Cam should've made that save, it sure would've been nice having someone on the blue line that could skate backwards instead of Cullen to break up that play. Cullen's play on the PP was disappointing last night too, and although I think he's very important to the success of our PP on most night, Lavi should have went in another direction in the 3rd & after seeing his play on the PP in the 1st 2 periods. Getting back to Cam, I think it also hurts that he doesn't have a back-up. I wouldn't put John Grahame in net for my junior hockey team, certainly not for an NHL team trying to make a playoff run. We've got to get rid of his waste of salary & get a quality goaltender.
