  1. While I'd love a moratorium on that phrase, just cause he got the contract doesn't mean he's worth it. Hopefully he will prove it on the ice.
  2. I'm admittedly biased but the Tech vs UNC game is a toss up. I think the game will absolutely hinge on one matchup though, the UNC D-line vs the Tech O-line. If tech can actually block, unlike against Miami, they will put up points. But if they get pushed around again its over, since Tech's defense can't stop anyone. As for national relevance, that doesn't matter, it is a huge conference game. If Tech looses they are effectively eliminated from contention, and UNC can keep on the top of the coastal with the win.

  4. Hopefully GT got the fumbles out of their system yesterday before the game against Clemson on Thursday. But yesterday was not a good day for the ACC who went 4-5. The only teams who won beat 1-AA schools, and UVA and Duke then embarrassed themselves loosing to 1-AA teams. Throw in State's loss and the conference is 0-2 against the SEC, 0-1 against the pac 10 and big 12, and 4-2 against 1-AA schools.
  5. Man the big 10 just narrowly avoided another 1-AA upset. Iowa was lucky to block not just one but two game winning field goal attempts.
  6. It is not a shame. If you are boneheaded enough to sign a guy to that kind of contract you should pay a price when it doesn't work out.
  7. If any ACC team ran the table they would be playing in the mythical national championship game. The only way they wouldn't play for the title is if there were two other major conference schools who were undefeated. Now I don't expect anyone in the conference to run the table because no team is too far ahead of the others and they all have flaws, so everyone is bound to loose at least once. But if someone doesn't loose they will be playing despite the whining from some of the other conferences. For all the complaints the ACC does appear to be the deepest conference from top to bottom, the problem is the top just isn't as good as the top of the other power conferences.
  8. As for me I can't say I hate Auburn, that is strictly reserved for Georgia and to a lesser extent Clemson, but they are a team I enjoy to see suffer. (In other words be painfully bad or loose pivotal games.) Additionally the fact that Auburn's AD has refused to schedule GT again since those two straight losses is annoying, since instead of playing a traditional rival like the tigers, tech gets to schedule teams like Miss St.
  9. I doubt Auburn can fall on its face any more than it did last year, though I would love to see them try. Maybe they can loose a game 2-0 instead of winning 3-2.
  10. I'm not sure its a prelude to a trade but an attempt at a team attitude change due to their lack of post season success. The team's disappearance last year should be cause enough for a on ice leadership change.
  11. No complaints here. I think the biggest upside to this deal, as others have pointed out, is that it gives Sutter a full year in the AHL to work on his game and muscle up.
  12. Wow Syracuse named Paulus their starter. I hope for their sake he's gotten falling down from the slightest bit of contact out of his system.
  13. On the plus side him missing a few months will help out their salary cap issues. Edit: Never-mind I'm an idiot.
  14. I've always been under the impression that PK's budget is more related to team revenues. So if attendance doesn't wane next year it might not fall by the full $5 million.
  15. I don't think either team will be a better opponent for the US. Its either Brazil and its talent, or playing South Africa at home. Pretty much a tossup to me.
