    Draft Pick
  1. Anaheim won the year after the Canes did, but point well taken.
  2. Talking cheap! That is certainly a cheap sleezy comment.
  3. The guy had his back completely turned and Ruutu hit him right on the numbers. It doesn't matter if it was malicious or deliberate, the fact of the matter there is no hits from behind allowed, period. From the look of it Ruutu had an opportunity to cut out at the last instance but he didn't. 3 games is nothing considering such a hit has ended player's seasons or even careers.
  4. It's the job of Albany's PR person (if they have one) to ensure there is media coverage for the opener. Obviously someone fell asleep at the switch. With the young guns coming in, you would think they would hype it up.
  5. Nice job! Look forward to more of the same this coming season. Much appreciated
  6. Why would a young player want to play in a city where hockey is King and in order to get a season ticket you pretty well have to inherit it. Packed houses of skeptical fans! Why the heck would he like to play in that environment!
  7. [quote name='TSA wrote: Duke-ch1']Come on guys! The kid is 21 yrs old and scored 36 goals last year. Paid too much! You've got to be kidding. Bruins had to let him go because of cap problems. The Leafs should make the playoffs for the next several years with the team they've put together so the first rounders should be near the bottom. Bruins didn't have to let him go, they had cleared enough cap space to re-sign him and that was the plan. The problems with Kessel in Boston go way back and Kessel basically told them he didn't want to play there anymore. Not much you can do with that except sell him to the highest bidder and hope what you get back can re-stock your talent pool. In this case, Brian Burke had made a play for Kessel at the Draft but it fell through at the last minute. He kept his offer on the table and when Chiarelli finally decided that negotiations with Kessel were getting nowhere, he pulled the trigger. The Bruins got a great return and although they lost a young stud in Kessel, they have other young guys ready to step up already on the roster, some returning from the LTIR that had missed a huge chunk of last season. The draft picks they acquired from the Leafs will almost guarantee they'll be able to add to their talent at both the trade deadline and the upcoming drafts. I thought the Leafs over paid for Kessel, especially since he's coming off of pretty extensive shoulder surgery and wont see play time till November at the earliest. Kessel will most likely be worth every penny somewhere down the line but replacing those picks Toronto gave up (and restocking the farm system) will take a long time to recoup. I disagree. Here you have a 21 year old signed for 5 years that can put the puck in the net. I admit those 1st rounders could come back and bite you but the Leafs had to do something with the change over being conducted in that organization. They needed a goal scorer. To pick up a young "proven" 1st rounder is going to cost you extra. As for cap room, I've read several reports that Boston was flush to the cap. TSA, we'll both find out in a couple of years who actually won this thing. Maybe, both will. Knowing Toronto's luck, Boston will probably pick up the player of a decade with one of those 1st rounders.
  8. I don't know architorture but there would certainly be one hell of a brawl in the stands! They'd probably have to cancel the game.
  9. The rumour in Ottawa which seems to be closer to the truth for the trade request than the excuse of "diminished role" is an incident within the locker room between Heatley and another player or players. Apparently, it is personal in nature, outside of hockey. Guess what that might be ?

  11. Per the newspaper article. Seems like this GM for the Rats doesn't know too much about Dodge. I guess he would be considered intelligent since he is on the Dean's list. As for the Clarkson coach's comments about offensive output, Dodge was snakebitten when the coach put a rookie on his wing all year coupled with the fact his other winger was a bit of a free spirit. Pretty hard to put numbers on the board when you're covering up for others. I've seen a lot of Clarkson games this year and I thought Dodge was solid, game after game. Go Canes!
  12. This kid is as tough as Brind Amour. He took a shot flush in the mouth in the last scrimmage at the Canes prospect camp which required a multitude of stitches and possibly the loss of five teeth. He hasn't missed a beat! Last night a goal and and assist in 2-1 victory over UMass.
