  1. the biggest issue for the canes is very simple. their minor league and scouting system simply does not produce enough talent. succesful teams today have a supply of good young talent on entry level contracts that allows the team to pay free agents. untill the canes clean house in charlotte nothing will change in carolina. there is no one pushing the overpaid vets for ice time............ whatever it takes?????? i think they do use that slogan...... whatever it takes to make a mid april tee time.............
  2. im glad i dont have to make this decision. personally i would like to see ward moved and his bloated contract. but thats not gonna happen. does anyone seriously think peters can handle a 80 game schedule playing at the level he is now?? also if you trade ward, the other two are free agents at years end. so that means one of the backups gets traded. i just hope jr dosen"t rutheford and give someone away or over pay for marginal help. one of gleason or ruttu has to go if ward stays....... gonne be interesting, but no matter what jr does theres the chance of a goalie getting injured again and that leaves mm or muse as the back up... not pretty......
  3. it just means wardo can go back to his usual inconsistent self without someone pushing him. didnt anyone notice cam played like crap till khudobin stood on his head and stole a preseason game????
  4. WOW!!!! i dont know what your smoking or what drugs your taking, but i really wanna try some with that outlook!!!!!
  5. lots of injuries, lots of inconsistent play, lots of no defence and being outshot, lots of loses, on track for a top 3 pick in the draft, then a 8-10 game win streak at the end so we pick 7 or 8th... oh wait thats the last four years.........
  6. on vancouvers end, they have a new ahl team after sharing a team last year. the comets need bodys, so the canucks got some ahl depth for their utica team.
  7. not a good thing to here from the head coach whose job is to prepare these guys to play.... and theres a lot of job openings, you would think there would be a lot of competition out there. this is just plain weird......really weird............. and quit honestly its pointing at the coaching staff........... any one elses thoughts??????
  8. wow.... after 3 exhibition games and 3 loses, maybe the question should be, who don't the canes put on waivers..... what a disaster this team is becoming. 6-0 loss and montreal had only 7 regulars in the lineup???? seems to me there is a issue with captain kirk preparing this team to play, and the excuse last year was kirk didn't have the team for a training camp. now he has and the results so far are not anything to right home about.
  9. when all said and done with preseason and ahl demotions and all the dust settles. who will the canes end up putting on waivers?????
  10. well we are not the only team in that position, a lot of teams have contracts that are out of line, and strangely enough... teams continued to give out absurd contracts this summer... flyers come to mind....also you have to figure in that north carolina is not exactly at the top of most players list of places they wanna play. hopefully JR will start turning over the reigns to someone else, but it looks like hes good for a couple more years. semin, skinner and j Staal are a little over paid. ruutu and gleason more so, pitkanen thank god will be over after this year. i also think wardo is to high in pay also. allen never shoulda have been let go...
  11. shouldnt most of the signings be kept quite?? JR told the press that he was going to sign a top level free agent but only after moving a contract... does anyone think a team is going to drag JR over a barrel knowing what is going on?? its just weird... why would you want all the other teams to know your plans when trying to clear a contract.. no ones going to give the canes fair market value now.....
  12. sounds like its buy out pitkanen time, no one is gonna take pitkanen or gleason with those bloated contracts....
  13. with the cap being lowered it has changed the way you can stock a team. we have too many big contracts at the top of the team, but other teams are doing the same. the league will pretty much be two scoring lines per team and then the 3rd and 4th lines and checking rolls and young cheap players.. drafting and developing cheap young players for those bottom two lines will determine who wins and loses. it looks like jr is on a win now( or the next couple years) mentality. but then again jr is in his mid 60s and pk is over 70... i think this is a major factor in why things are being done this way. i like the komisarek signing. hopefully bowman and dalpe can inject some youth. we didn't lose anything in the free agents that left. i'm excited to watch this season unfold. it will be up to the youngsters to pitch in......
  14. pesce looks promising, apparently the trade for our #5 just wasn't there..... but why draft a 5-11 forward, we need size.......as usual that annual end of the year win streak comes back to bite the canes you know where..... pathetic............. we still need a shut down d man, and its looking like another frustrating year ahead. luckily for me i have a new AHL team moving in 12 miles from me, guess i can cancel nhl ticket.....
  15. holy crap..... jr finally drafts a d-man, he musta forgot to take his medication......... shoulda taken furcal........
