  1. The charity game was played at PNC yesterday (Sunday, Nov 24, 2013) at Noon at PNC Arena. The Canes reported that we raised over $1,500 for the Kids N' Community foundation. Thanks again to everyone that spread the word and/or ordered tickets.
  2. Grrrrrrr It appears that some players reported sales that the Canes never received order forms for… so we have NOT hit our goal number yet. At least the Canes are giving us more time. So, please spread the word to anyone that might be interested and ask that they fax or scan & email their form ASAP.
  3. We are VERY close to reaching our goal of 200 tickets sold. Please continue to spread the word today. I'm sure there are lots of folks that are planning to buy tickets anyway... it would sure be nice if some of them ordered through this charity promotion.
  4. Howdy folks. Can I ask a favor from my fellow Canes fans? If you are interested in going to the Canes vs Ottawa game on Nov 24th (Jeff Skinner Bobble-head night!), would you consider ordering Discounted tickets through the form below. The Kids and Community Foundation allows local recreational hockey teams to stage a charity game on the PNC ice after a Hurricanes home game. My team (Puckaneers) is scheduled to play after the Hurricanes game on Nov 24, 2013? To play the game we need to sell 200 DISCOUNTED tickets to the Hurricanes vs Ottawa game. A portion of each ticket price goes to the Kids and Community Foundation. We are short and really struggling. I am afraid that we won't have enough and the charity game won't happen. Here is a link to the ticket purchase form so anyone that wants to support the Hurricanes Kids and Community foundation can use the form to buy tickets. The deadline on the form says Nov 15, but Brian at the Cane's office said he will take order forms through the 18th. However, we are quickly running out of time. Here is my copy of the ticket order form: http://gear-report.com/images/Dragons_v_Puckaneers_24Nov13_Hurricanes_v_Ottawa.pdf I think that other fans that play hockey would also find this interesting and maybe want to schedule this kind of game for their teams. 5. Thanks all. I had found the N&O hockey link, but was hoping they still had the Canes specific page stashed somewhere. Oh well. Now I know they don't. I had not found the blog yet. Great timing for them to change their website, huh? (sarcasm)
  6. I haven't read all of the replies, so it is likely that someone has already mentioned this... I LOVE the look of the new uniforms up close(not just the jersey, the total package). However, they SUCK from a distance. Seriously! Try watching from the upper deck... you can't make out the numbers. Distant camera shots on TV are similarly hard to see. While my first impression was that they hit a home run with the design, I have to say that I think there was a HUGE oversight in the design process, as they don't work well the way most people watch the games. They probably look great for the people in the lower bowl, but honestly, what percentage of game viewers (live and TV) do you think are in the lower bowl on any given game? I'd speculate that it is less than 25%... probably way less.
  7. Ok, 1/8 of the way through the season I'm seeing lots of criticisms of Brookbank. Honestly, to my only marginally trained eye, he appears to be skating better and displaying more hockey skill this season. Sure, he hasn't fought much (the one fight he had I didn't see... but heard that he did well), but I think that having the designated "tough guys" ritualistically go after each other every game is pretty pointless. I'd rather see him contributing as a hockey player so that he can be on the ice more. An "enforcer" doesn't do a team much good if he spends the whole game on the bench because he is too much of a hockey liability to take a regular shift. So far, I'd say that Brookbank is making his case to get a few more minutes by being less of a liability. And yes, before anyone mentions it, I did see his missed shot last game. I've read a few people say that it was an easy shot that he missed. From what I saw, CuJo was agressively coming out to take away the angle and make it a very difficult shot. At game speed that would be an extremely hard shot to put away. I can't fault him for missing that one. I can't say that I'm a Brookbank fan, but he is making me think that I may have been too quick to completely write him off.

  9. True. Visually, if they had left a visible portion of the stick blade then I may have realized what it was. As it is, its like there is phantom, extra close zoomed in stick tape hovering off to the left of Staal. Just looks odd to me. Not a big deal either way, just odd.
  10. Thanks. I never would have looked in the "site help" section to find the previous thread. Now that y'all say stick tape I can see it (I didn't recognize it 'cuz I use the black rubberized tape on my sticks), but I think it is a bad choice. Obviously, I wasn't the only one to see it as a bandage, and think it was a bit odd, but appropriate.
  11. btt looked like PDP was going to buy them, but haven't heard a peep from him in over a week. Who wants them?
  12. Has anyone heard if tonights game will be streamed? I don't see anything on the Nashville website, but may not be looking in the right place.
