  1. I'm a Pens/Canes fan and I 'm really looking forward to this series. Both teams are fairly evenly matched, although I'd say the Canes have the goaltending advantage and the Pens have an edge offensively. It blows my mind how both teams were pretty much written off back in February and weren't even expected to make the playoffs, let alone end up facing each other in the ECF. Just goes to show that with this game one can expect the unexpected. Here's to a great series - and two great fanbases! At least we'll have one thing in common: we'll both be thoroughly sick and tired of the Staal v. Staal hype when it's all said and done. To that end, here is a fun little gameday activity we can all enjoy - the Staal Brothers Drinking Game! http://www.puckhuffers.com/2009/01/puck-hu...l-brothers.html
  2. As a Pens/Canes fan, I would love to be there tonight but will be watching on tv (I plan to be in Raleigh for the April 4th Pens-Canes game, though). I always liked Paul Maurice, but I'm not sure if he's the right man for the job this time. I wish him luck - the game should be an interesting one no matter what happens... Oh, and for the record, I don't like what Orpik did to Cole any more than all of you...boo him long and loud for me, will ya?
  3. Well, I know for a fact that Sydor wasn't happy with the amount of icetime he was getting. Plus, Boucher is a righty and the younger guys like Letang and Goligowski need a veteran to keep them in line (Especially w/ Gonchar out). We already have a dearth of talented defensemen, so this could get very interesting... My guess is that when Gonch and Whitney come back Eaton and Gill are gone and Whitney might possibly be trade bait, but don't quote me on that. It was a pretty even deal, but Boucher might provide some more grit - not an earth-shattering move by Shero, but not a bad one either.
  4. I was glad to be wrong about that one, believe me Let's hope sunday was not just a fluke.
  5. I'm really trying to find the positives here, but it's becoming more and more difficult. Ruutu is the only reason to watch the Canes lately - enough said. And I just have to vent about the amount of icetime Brindy is getting. It pains me to do so, but COME ON!
  6. I think Lavi getting fired will happen not because it's necessarily the answer, but because the standard NHL solution to fixing any ailing team is usually firing the coach. (Barry Melrose, anyone?)
  7. Gee, what took them so long? All I have to say is when Mark Recchi is getting 20 minutes a game, something is seriously wrong in Tampa Bay...
  8. As far as coaching, the real question is the system: what type of system is Lavi using, or does he even have one at all? And if he DOES have one why is it not working? If I were coach, that would be the first thing to sort out - come up w/ a system, try to get everyone on board and then address what works and what doesn't. I don't believe a lack of talent is the problem here: some players aren't being used properly (Brind'Amour being a prime example) and the overall lack of effort needs to be addressed as well. I think once everyone knows their role and how to play it we would see an improvement, but what do I know? I wouldn't want to be in Lavi's shoes right now regardless...
  9. Yeah, that game was a flashback for sure. I think the league could do w/ more of those. Hey, if there are more Wings-haters around I think I'm in the right place.
  10. No, thanks -not after Jordan's performance against the Wings the other night. Give Eric some time...look how long it took for Jordan to get going
