  1. Ovie has done it again. This time, he sent Brian Campbell head first into the boards. He got a game misconduct, which was his 3rd of the season. Ovie said, it was a slight push and he didn't think it would be much more than a 2 minute penalty. Last count, that would be 2 Boarding penalties and 1 knee on knee penalty, which caused him to earn a 2 game suspension. Time for Colin Campbell to get some intestinal fortitude and bring down the hammer on Ovie and his rough house tactics before someone gets seriously injuried. Here is the video of Ovie's hit on Campbell. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/recap?gameId=300314004
  2. I need at least 2 more teams to join...I got 4 teams already but would love to have at least 6 teams.
  3. I think it absolutely awesome how our other athletes are there supporting the Hockey team and are getting into it big time. They are just as nervous as we the normal everyday fans.
  4. My heart is beating fast. Talk about the "Never give up attitude" well, Team USA just showed it. Sid the Kid should be known as Sid the Choke. Another break away and another miss opportunity.
  5. Team USA has found their heart. Did someone put a target on Luongo because the USA is having target practice.
  6. Nice Hit Brooks. Heatley almost has a seat on the bench of Team USA.
  7. The pressure is on Canada. They are playing in front of their fans and they are expected to win it all. Interesting stat...Miller has made 103 saves and allowed 8 goals. That is not counting the many blocked shots our defensemen have gotten too.
  8. I am getting butterflies in my stomach and I am just watching at home. This is like a playoff type atmosphere.
  9. The question needs to be asked, I am being serious and not dogging on UNC, will UNC miss the NCAA Tourney for the 1st time in a very long time? I believe, honestly, the only way they will get in, is they have to win the ACC Tournament. Probably 3 teams total out of the ACC will make the NCAA tourney, maybe 4 if we get lucky, Duke, Maryland, VT and possibly Wake Forest. Who knows what the ACC Tourney holds, we might have an upset and an unexpected team win it all, so we can't count anyone.
  10. Joni and Tuumo gave a very good account of themselves, except that one play that Joni had, which he apologized for. That was so unlike him. I watched last night's game, the one scary moment was when Tuumo got a stick in the throat area. He played hard every game and that pass Joni fed to Olli, that was just plain SICK. Of course, we are used to that here in Canesland. These guys have nothing to hang their heads about, they are returning to Raleigh with Bronze around their necks.
  11. Considering he was the 14th pick in the draft, in the '07 draft. I bet the other 13 teams who bypassed him are kicking themselves for not drafting him now. The only pressure he has on him, is the pressure he has put on himself. I drafted him in one of the fantasy league I am in. There is talk he will make the big club out of ST. I can't wait til the season starts.
  12. You ain't the only one who is nervous about this game. I wish 3:15 would get here.
  13. It seems the NHL has to reschedule the team's flight out of Vancouver. Apparently the flights were booked based on how they did in the World Championships, now they are scrambling to get them rescheduled due to some game taking place today. Looking at the interviews done by ESPN, our guys are not acting overconfident, they know it is going to be a close game and they will be prepared for what Canada has this time. I think our guys are living a dream and have taken it one game at a time. No expectation were placed on them so if they come back with a Silver, we, as a country are going to be proud of them no matter what. All the pressure is on Canada, they are expected to win it all. Nothing less than the Gold for Canada, it will be considered a failure, for us, Gold or Silver it will be considered a big success.
  14. Interesting Saturday, both Kansas and Kentucky go down. I expect them to slide down but not to much, probably to 3 and 4 in the polls. The new number should be Syracuse with Duke sliding up to 2 depending on how they do today.
  15. Haven't paid much attention to what other teams are doing except my Braves. All I can tell u all is the Braves' #1 prospect, Jason Heyward has caused the Braves to put netting at their ST facility due to his monster HR that land in the parking lot behind the stadium. It seems he is denting vehicles and has already busted out the Asst. GM's Sunroof, causing $3400 worth of damage. Here is the link, there are two pictures, one shows where he is hitting the ball and the other is where he has dented someone's truck. http://blogs.ajc.com/jeff...=blogs_jeff_schultz_blog Remember Heyward is only 20, has added 20 lb's of muscle to his frame.
  16. This game is going to come down to several key things for Team USA: Good Goaltending No Stupid Penalties Scoring 1st Capitalizing on mistakes Staying with the game plan, and the last one, Play with pride, no matter how the game turns out, you will come away with the medal
  17. Team USA wasn't even in the talks for a medal, yet we are in the Gold Medal Game. The game is not played on paper, it is played on the ice. Everyone including announcers were crowning the Canadians as the Gold Medal Winners before one game was played just based on who they had on the team. Yet, Coach Mike Babcock has had to switch up their lines and goaltenders before they are not getting the contribution from the people they expected to get it from i.e. Sid the Kid and Martin Brodeur. All we have seen from Team USA is the same lines from the start and the same goaltender, everyone contributing including the defense, if they ain't scoring, they are blocking shots and clearing pucks on the opposition's pp. I love our chances to win the Gold and even if we don't, no one gave us a chance to even medal in the Olympics, so to walk away with one, makes one proud American.
  18. They almost didn't get what they wanted. Here is a little quote....You want some, well come and get you some. Oh wait, you came and got you some earlier and you left with a loss. You are coming back for a second helping I see, well it might not taste any better the second time. The Underdog aka Team USA is coming and Team Canada better be prepared.
  19. You got your wish. I for one am so proud of the way the USA has represented themselves on ice after each victory. They congratulate each other, shake the other team's hand then stand off to the side while the other team leave, not making scene. Nice move by Ron Wilson to give Tim Thomas some PT. Even after that goal scored, Jack Johnson went over and let him to it was alright. I didn't see all of the game but what I did see, it looked as if our guys were firing on all cylinders and probably could have run the score up. Well we got Round 2 of Team USA v. Team Canada. As for Tim Gleason, the guy who got "snubbed" to someone who is possibly 60 minutes away from a Gold Medal, I say WELL DONE.
  20. Is this the same USA team that no one gave a chance to even medal in the games? Well, I bet those idiots are choking on those chances now. Just love being the Underdog. Regardless of what happens on Sunday and whoever we play, I am proud of this team and the way they played. GO USA!!!
  21. Apparently McDonald's of Canada didn't think Carolina Hurricanes fans who see the commercial and see that little detail in there. Big difference between a Maple Leaf and a Hurricane symbol.
  22. Our Canes are giving a very good account of themselves at the Olympics. Staal playing on the same line as Crosby and Iginla, which I believe is their 1st line says a lot in how he is playing. As for the others, Gleason was getting some "major" talk by the NBC announcers. Then you got Joni and Tuumo showing what makes them valuable to us. No matter how well any of these teams do in the medal rounds, just to know that Staal, Gleason, Joni and Tuumo have gotten the media to talk about the Carolina Hurricanes.
