Now I don't know how many caniacs are atlanta braves fans, but I thought I'd throw this out there anyway. This trade seems to be the right move for the Braves in what seems like a steal of a trade.
I can't believe that the Braves didn't have to give up any of their BIG prospects like Hanson, Medlen, Freeman, and Heyward. Just lookin to see what you guys think.
Pit Receives:
RHP Charlie Morton - triple A: 7-2 2.51 ERA
OF Gorkys Hernandez - double A: .316 avg
LHP Jeff Locke - single A: 1-4 5.56 ERA
ATL Receives:
OF Nate McLouth : .256 avg 9 HR 34 RBI
This is what the Braves needed, a guy that can lead off, hit for power, and steal bases. He is a Gold Glover that can hit 20+ HR's and get 20+ steals.
It could be the spark they need to get past the Phillies and the Mets.
Now on the other side of this trade, Pittsburgh receives Charlie Morton who has already played in the Majors, but didn't fair to well in the league last year.
And the other two prospects don't seem to be progressing very well through the minors.
