  1. I think being on pace for 109 over 30 games means quite a bit when there's a direct correlation between that success and change within the organization. Of course, I don't expect the Canes to be able to play to that exact level over the course of an entire season, but the team's upswing over the past several months needs to be considered as a strong positive sign for next year.
  2. remkin, I actually agree with you that another top-six forward needs to be added. I said that "heading into next season with virtually the identical team doesn't seem so bad," which I think may have been misinterpreted. It would not be ideal, but at the same time it wouldn't be terrible, given how much better this group is playing than during the beginning of the year. Right before that I said, "With the exception of a potential trade, Jim Rutherford won't have much of an opportunity to reshape his club in time for October, leaving the general manager with nearly the same group in tow heading into 2012-13," implying that even with a big addition, the team will still look extremely similar. Based on your opinions I think you would like a column I wrote a few weeks ago (you and I seem to be on the same wavelength): http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1086672-carolina-hurricanes-need-to-add-goal-scorer-to-contend-in-2012-13
  3. Hey guys, I've been meaning to stop by here more often. I'm one of the Canes' featured columnists at Bleacher Report, and I'd love to get some input from you, the fans. I wrote a column today on the team's early chances at making the playoffs next season in hopes of raising awareness for just how good they've been over the past few months. I'd like to post the column here because I think it could create an interesting discussion. Had it not been for their miserable start, there's every reason to believe the Canes could take the SE Division this season. That is, of course, just my opinion. I'd love to hear what you guys think. If you have a moment, give it a read and let me know. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1113381-carolina-hurricanes-recent-play-bodes-well-for-2012-13-playoff-chances
  4. Thanks guys. I'll try and become and active poster here. I also wrote a story on the concussion issue. Hope y'all can check it out and give your thoughts. http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/1UPV6q
  5. Hey fans, I recently accepted a position with Bleacher Report to cover the Canes. While B/R doesn't have much of a hockey following/reputation, I'm hoping to change that. I wrote a piece recently on the new direction of the team, and I hope you guys will enjoy it. LINK
  6. As much as I dislike Milbury, this has been blown a bit out of proportion. I think he was wrong to shake the kid and curse at him, but it sure as heck wasn't assault.
  7. So if everyone stops going to games, the team is going to rake in less income. If the team rakes in less income, they're going to have less money to spend on the team in the future. Rutherford has a strong commitment to winning. I was a diehard Thrashers fan for the team's entire existence. I would have given a lot to have a GM like JR and an owner like PK. You have a team, you have NHL hockey. Enjoy it. I'd give anything to have the Thrashers back, even if they were as bad as the Hurricanes are this year, and I'd go to every game I could. Appreciate what you have.
  8. Great point, even if Pens fans are going to have a field day.
  9. Here's my take on the trade: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/977136-nhl-news-jim-rutherford-works-magic-unloads-kaberle-to-montreal-for-spacek
  10. The kid's going to make the team next year without a problem.
  11. The 'Canes remarkable health has been overlooked in their success. Check it out.
  12. Here's another feature on Skinner. Thought y'all might enjoy it. http://insidehockey.com/?p=11555
