nino had been dropped to their third line- wasn't getting the playing time and results reflected that. He is not the first nor last player that fell out of favor with their current team- and got a boost in production in a new setting( see skinner, jeff).

Yeah but how did that flash in the pan work for Buffalo ? He lit up the beginning of the season, got the press, and then took his usual vacation. Whereas Nino is still playing hockey, not golf,  like Skinner.

We shall agree to disagree that there would be be no media questions and if players didn't answer just makes the media ask more FWIW.. before during and esp after about it..Media would ask the" why" ask if liked it etc etc.. Its just IMO a distraction the team doesn't need. As said same reason they stopped the surge

Are we isolating them from friends and family also? How about slump busters?

  3.  Don Cherry brought the spotlight to the surge and our successful playoff push. I think he also helped the with our team cohesiveness and brought the team together to keep the fans interested in our results. Don has been well known throughout Canada for his charitable work. I think the team, or our owner,  should make a contribution to one of Don's charities to show no hard feelings and a big Thank You from a " Bunch of Jerks "

Thanks Canes and Caniacs for an enjoyable season!  Now make the playoffs memorable.

Reminded me of that stupid Fox puck mess from years back.  No thanks.

And NBC used Peter Puck. Times are changing. Techno will soon make it seemless and you'll wonder how you followed the game in the " old " days.

At the risk of looking like a conspiracy theorist, i still wonder if Peters wasn't micro-managed to the point where he couldn't make certain decisions, up to and including some of the line decisions.  It might be that rather than learning from his mistakes, he's simply no longer required to be a puppet for his GM.  I could be wrong, but we all know he spoke up on more than one occasion asking for changes that were never made, plus we all know he hinted at Skinner being captain only to have the co-captaincy farce rolled out and see Skins saddled with 3rd- and 4th-liners all season.  I'm not convinced any of that was Peters' doing either.

It might be that the head muckity mucks in Calgary have no problem changing coaches who don't produce.

Clearly I’m not. Care to share this Facebook status, I mean story, about the Hornets?

I think it was just after American Thanksgivig, there was an article on Yahoo Sports with a link to Arena improvements, with most about Key and what was happening there . One or two lines mentioning other arenas and their improvements with a blurb about Charlotte might be looking for a new venue for Hornets.

Not as well as you think you do.

When and why did this become a p*ssing match? I stated something I read online and you seem to think I'm making it up. When did you become all knowing and all seeing? Get real with yourself, you are not the arbiter of what people say or post.

Absolutely nothing has been said about the Hornets getting a new arena. The Hornets’ arena is one of the newest in the NBA.

Just because Florida has two teams doesn’t mean one is moving. But when one is a perennial loser which bleeds $15 million a year and is completely irrelevant in a media market with some serious competition, then yes, it means they’re likely to move.

    Please stop making stuff up.

That's your opinion. I know what I read.

Literally none of this makes any sense. Absolutely no discussion has been had about another arena. Hornets' arena is one of the newest in the NBA. Panthers' record speaks for itself? Uh, the Panthers have more division titles since 2013 than the Canes in their entire history. Just don't have a ring.

As for Houston, see the Arizona Coyotes.

Well I read a small article on line where there was some interest in an new arena for the Hornets in a location with easier access . I'll stand by the thud, especially after this season.

As for Raleigh , see Hartford Whalers, as for Colorado see Quebec , Calgary and Winnipeg, see Atlanta , teams move .And just because the state of Florida has two teams doesn't mean Panthers  are moving. There has been some talk lately that ownership of the Panthers will make a strong offer to coach Q in the off season, Also since Panarin is a UFA, and played for Q that he might be a target for them also.

  10. I decide to watch the Pens -Rangers game tonight. Henrik voted to All Star game and I wanted to see how he was playing. What a disaster. He should just decline to play, and let anybody who can stop puck play. I guess when the NY press refers to you as king you feel like you don't have to give an effort.

Raleigh is a nice growing city like you said but there a COLLEGE SPORTS CITY

And Charlotte was a nice growing city, just like Raleigh, before they got NFL and NBA. But what have those two done. NBA is thinking about moving on to it's third arena, and lost their franchise, NFL, well that record speaks for itself, thud!  Close but no cigar. Rethink shouting about college sports city.

It took a little prompting from one of his mates, but I like that Williams acknowledged the crowd during the announcement.

Props as well to the Canevision crew for their pregame video of Stormy having a restless sleep, clearly having a nightmare, and then showing the horrifying images of Gritty that he is dreaming about, very funny.

I was being sarcastic. The Hurricanes organization was sadly lacking.

Just got an email from the Canes titled The Pass is Back:

For a second I got excited thinking they meant the tape to tape pass.....but then I realized it wasn't. So apparently bad passing it still on.

Canes Pass, a flexible and affordable way to attend Carolina Hurricanes home games, returns in 2019.
Each Pass includes access to all 10 Hurricanes home games in January and February and is available in two seating categories, starting at just $199.

After last nights game , it became glaringly obvious our guys get bonus money for hitting skate blades with their passes.

That poll was taken before the season turned to poop. The Calgary trade looked better 6 weeks ago before Lindholm began lighting it up and Dougie showed he is not what we thought we were getting. The team has imploded. Coaching and management hires are starting to look questionable. If a new poll was taken, 74.6 probably falls below 7.46.

New poll might be What rather than How.

Staal would be interesting. I've been loathe to trade him up to now, and still fear losing that much two way puck control, but he's the ultimage third line center, and I'm not sure we can afford to play him there.

The one I hadn't thought about was J Willy. It's not easy to trade the captain, but he might have some rental value. It would be phenomenal to get a mid first rounder in next year's draft. I doubt Williams returns a first rounder, but maybe if we packaged him. Maybe Williams and a second round pick for a first round pick? Might have to sweeten more.

Remember Williams is Mr Game Seven, with a strong playoff reputation.

Also, while I'm not sure we really want him on the ice next year, he could easily be a guy who could be rented and right back here in the offseason.

How long will it be before we get to a game 7?

I think some of you can't see the forest for the trees.

Velucci is indeed whom we need just not as coach.  GM

Then the owner needs to give him the keys a budget and let him go to work.

RB has arguably the least offensive talent in the entire NHL.  Its pointless to suggest our PP should be better when we don't have the skaters that can put the puck in the net.

Aho, TT, Svech, Martinook, D.Hahn (because of his contract) should be kept.  After that I'd trade anyone (Slavin, Faulk, Pesc. Staal (if NTC allows) etc...). If we had offense we could tilt the ice and some defense would occur by simply playing less of it.  We will never "defend" ourselves to wins unless they allow clutching and grabbing again circa 2002.

Ask yourself this of our skaters (Forwards) - How many are actually better than Chad LaRose?  Now would you like to be in RB's shoes having to coach that group?

    Uh, 12 of them.

I've always wondered what the results would be if the Canes went to a more traditional coach, like Hitch, Quenville, Boudreau, etc. over upstarts?  Maybe the team should look down the rabbit hole for a change.

Before last summer I was advocating for a coach with experience to take over for Peters. Now we are on our third coach in a row without head coaching experience. In 05-06 we had an experienced coach, a goalie and players who put together multiple" in a row " streaks. We have had none of that since JR got his panties in a bunch and decided to show everybody how insecure we was .That an an owner who lost interest. Now we have what? An owner who has lost interest, and a GM whose history is losing.
