  1. in no way do i want to downplay today's events. i want to say, however, that bad events in the world constantly happen. the main reason i love hockey is to get away from stuff of the world, whether it is economy, politics or bad people like today. again, not to downplay today, but please recognize that hockey is a release to get away from junk of the world for so many of us. with the junk of the lockout, it has now become another worry (albeit a tiny one) on top of other horrible worries. many of us are ready to unhitch from this worry and the self-absorbed parties involved. in no way do i want to downplay today's events. i want to say, however, that bad events in the world constantly happen. the main reason i love hockey is to get away from stuff of the world, whether it is economy, politics or bad people like today. again, not to downplay today, but please recognize that hockey is a release to get away from junk of the world for so many of us. with the junk of the lockout, it has now become another worry (albeit a tiny one) on top of other horrible worries. many of us are ready to unhitch from this worry and the self-absorbed parties involved.
  2. so, NHL is only league to go so far as killing a season. other leagues got as far as "decertification" or whatever, but never killed a season. what makes NHL players think that NHL owners won't throw legal junk back at them? remember, if they decertify or dissolve, this means each must work independently. no fehr, no nobody can coordinate. if they talk to each other and coordiate after they dissolve, the league can argue some sort of reverse collusion. they are now all targets of class action or independent civil suits. owners will have their own legal bullets, and will use them since they've clearly gone farther than other leagues. tell you what, these parties (league and players) are a bunch of idiots. both. i'm ready to puke.
  3. ha ha ha. whatever the relationship, i'll call you "brother" if that happens. (not union, but son of a union guy. dad in late retirement is currently being supported by the union, thank <deity>.. i'm grateful for Dad's union today.) people, it is NEVER black and white or red when it comes to this issue. one reason i can't blame the union in talking about "pensions". Right now, I thank <deity> for dad's union benefits, even though i am not a union guy. think 40 years hence. really, i cannot blame the players about bring up pension benefits. when you are 90 years old, who will look out for you? even if you made 2M for a few years. this is where my "players side" comes in. nothing is ever as simple as it seems. i don't want to reveal too much, but my dad went through a physical rehab stint with a very well known NHL player from the 60's who recently passed away. the way the guys form the 60's were treated was garbage. this is my union side, even if you can't believe it.
  4. OBXer. we're just a bunch of scabs and line breakers.
  5. ?? red - white - black. three groups essentially share the same seats. the dates don't overlap. when you get a seat, you have it (until playoffs). as a red holder, you may sit in white's seat on a different night. or did they change this? i don't think so since looking at the groups that were supposed to happen this year, you see red's are all sat/sun, whites are mon to thurs, and blacks are fridays with some weekdays thrown in, that do no overlap the whites.
  6. yep, and if they divide by zero, the league blows up forever. could happen. and yes, the above proof was "wise guy" coming out in me. the marketing dept will likely adjust somewhat. they may even give options for 26ers. i could see them giving an option of all games or a ratio. 12ers are probably stuck with 8 (based on a 48 game schedule) since they have to rotate the 3 groups.
  7. given: 48/82 = 0.58 full season games: 41, 26, 12 therefore: part season: .58 x 41 = 24 .58 x 26 = 15 .58 x 12 = 7 Q.E.D
  8. i've been so cranky and blinded by anger that when I saw another link to click on, i was too tired to try and look. based on your plead here, i gave it a shot. Best Card Ever! Thank You TSA! i just died laughing. oh man i needed that.
  9. remkin stole my thunder about "watching sausage being made." i was going to say that. instead, I'll say it is worse, it is like watching something that looks like sausage but is entirely less savory being made, if you catch me drift. i'm fatigued. since we're taking about 'taking sides' here, it is obvious i lean to the owners side. fehr is not a favorite of mine. but don't forget i signed up for this board after my " buddy" betmann spouted garbage about the league having the "best fans in the world." he's really just as bad. Oh yeah gary, Thank You Fans! yeah, right.
  10. it goes like this: - announce a yard sale to your neighbors for july, but don't really have it until december - when patrons arrive, go back in your house for a glass of water. this takes 1/2 hour - patrons would like to buy the toaster for 60% of don's listed price. don says "how about you come inside and buy my diswasher?" - patrons object - don gives them 3 other choices of appliances in the kitchen to buy - patrons object, and suggest they talk with his wife - wife talks, tries to make a deal on a few things - don comes back, and tells all the neighbors he has greatest deals ever - patrons object, they say they were trying to buy a toaster, but somehow got a toaster oven instead. patrons say we are not talking the same language. - patrons leave, roll down windows on their car as they go out and yell at all the neighbors telling them don won't work with them
  11. been listening to xm and hearing a lot of players live and replays of the owners. (gag order is back on the owners) either both sides are thick as bricks, or both sides are lying a heck of a lot. they both say "we've given back", etc. everyone is "surprised". really? listening to all these guys (all involved) just sound like a bunch of whiners. it is hard to believe we pay everyone's salary. why do we subject ourselves to supporting these whiners? i've got to go to rehab and give this garbage up. detox.
  12. THUMBS UP! i need to find a way to work myself into the airforce and meet mr. awac. perhaps i've screwed myself by my immature comments on the board when the AF intelligence figures out who i am when i sign up0.
  13. thank you brother AWAC. you may disown me, so forgive me, but you are apparently the only one i see on this board that isn't swallowing the the garbage spewed by fehr. i don't get it. fehr has a long history of screwing us, the fans. people, do you not understand?
  14. i sure as hdoublehockeysticks won't be re-upping anyting with my tix if Dfehr continues to be involved with the NHLPA. the man is poison. sorry sd for the negativity. he lies. '94 baseball all over again. they guy kills sports. thanks alot players. you really made an excellent hire.
  15. i stand by it, sd. as you see, the nhl sees through this master manipulator's scam. think what you want. this board (thank goodness) is for the most part, a free expression place. (just don't use *explitives* which was very hard). whatever....
