  1. Hurricanes jumped into the top 10 on the nhl.com's power rankings at #6. The Bolts are at #3. Hi.
  2. He used to follow me back when i tweeted a lot about hockey, but once i got to where i only tweeted about music, he dropped me. Of course now i haven't tweeted in years.
  3. Small sample size, but i was impressed with him in a couple games i've seen over the past couple years. I wouldn't give up what we'd probably have to give up to get him, but if he could be had for say a 3rd- or 4th-rounder, i'd give him a shot.
  4. Bummer. Granted i haven't been able to watch much of camp this season, based on what i've seen the past 2 seasons i still put McKeown ahead of Fleury, Bean, and Sellgren on the depth chart. But then that's why i'm just a guy in the stands and not part of the committee. Hope he doesn't get claimed on waivers but i don't see him clearing.
  5. Not to beat the dead horse, but man imagine if the Canes could have gotten that much for more-talented Skinner...
  6. Kuokkanen is Cherry-Picker Central in Charlotte. I don't see him fitting RB's criteria unless he learned to backcheck over the summer.
  7. If Rutherfart were still sitting in the Canes office i'd say you're right, but this isn't your father's Oldsmobile. Our current brass might actually have the guts to give the C to someone for leadership reasons rather than merchandise reasons. I hope so, anyway.
  8. Especially in his contract year - he should bring 110% for a better payday next summer, plus his trade value isn't at its highest due to the contract. I just wonder what happens with this glut of defensemen if he isn't traded. I think it's a given at this point that he and the Canes aren't on the same page going forward, so the focus has to be on players who are here for more than the next season. No matter who gets put on the 3rd-line, if everyone stays then the team is paying someone $4M+ to play on the 3rd-line, which is pricey for a team that actually has a payroll this season. Before Gardiner, it was easy to say let Faulk play out his contract, but now i feel something has to happen.
  9. Gaut didn't do much to impress me last season, but i did like what i saw of his game last night (connection was pretty bad for us so we only saw chunks of the first 2 periods in between bufferings and whatnot and we gave up during the second intermission so we missed the third). If he's ready to grab a spot, i'm ready to watch him take it. Geekie looked good last night as well, but unlike Gaut he did impress me last season.
  10. Shame the sweaters looked awful.
  11. Really. Team Martinook shuts out Team Stamkos 3-0. I'll take it.
  12. They didn't do it for me either. I hope Dundon once again requests black sweaters on the road a lot.
  13. If we get all of the defensemen, nobody else gets any. We win.
  14. It looks like i'm in a definite minority where Fleury is concerned, which is fair enough - i'm ready to be proven wrong and if i am i'll admit it with a smile on my face. I still think McKeown is the stronger candidate at this point, however
  15. Honestly i'd put Fleury at Halko-level, not simply because of the lack of goals (anyone who knows me knows i don't rate defensemen on how many goals they've scored). I hope he shows a little more this season, particularly after the franchise let go a couple of better defensemen and kept him.
  16. I'm happy to hear it as well - his game could use that. I hope it happens.
  17. This. i don't think it's about being better without Faulk at this point, i think it's about preparing for life after Faulk. If an offer was made last season and he turned it down, i think it's about getting something for him now rather than lose him for nothing at the end of the season. Especially with Gardiner climbing on with a similar game.
  18. I may have misread things but from my outsider's perspective, i got the impression Williams was disappointed not to be named Captain in his first season back. I definitely don't think being named Captain this past season was a negative he wanted to get away from.
  19. Faulk decided he's going to be just as quick in deciding whether to waive his NTC as Williams was in deciding what he was going to do this season.
  20. A half-drunk cup of black coffee that's been sitting out for an hour and a half and a coupon for $10 off an oil change.
  21. Just me, but i would have given Gauthier for Puljujarvi. Wouldn't have given more, though, and i'm betting the Oil wanted sweetener.
  22. I can't believe the team i grew up with has sunk to that level. Worst we had to deal with was Yvon Labre.
  23. I agree with you and was prepared to watch Faulk with the Canes this season, but Gardiner. There's a logjam on defense and for the first time in the history of organized hockey in North Carolina, salary. Something has to give, and losing Fleury's salary isn't going to fix anything.
  24. Ironic that he just had probably the best season he's ever had, yet his trade value is probably the lowest it's ever been. I'd love for the Canes to get top cash and prizes for him, but i'm expecting Pu. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised.
  25. Please no. 3 A's is just cheesy. I don't care if it's freaking Fleury, give us a freaking C.
