I’m loving every minute of the Western Evil Empire’s futility...and hoping the other Evil Empire joins them there soon

I remember as a kid watching them get their doors blown off by the Minnesota North Stars, Detroit Red Wings and Edmonton Oilers. I think those days are back for the foreseeable future. However, I believe they are in full “tank” mode. I guess it’s better to languish for a while and speed up the chances of getting  some top picks than to die a slow death through mediocrity (see Red Wings) with false hopes at “one last run”. I believe LA is right there with them, and Pittsburgh isn’t too far behind.  You can also add the Rangers to that category.

I watched the video and was in tears laughing.  Tommy Hawk and the fans are having a frustrating season. In keeping up with the happenings back in Chicago, don't be surprised if that isn't the only incident. But hey, Johnny Teows, Duncan Keith, and Brent Seabrook are getting paid mega-bucks $$$ to under-perform.

  3. We're a soft, delicate team with some good players but not enough skill and consistency to hang with the big boys on a nightly basis. I'm still in a daze how last night's game was coached at the end, and the lapses we see with this team.  There is too much going on here that is not right, and I'm not one to :deadhorse:

This is the most people I have seen at the PNC since the 2009 playoffs and the Canes are not even playing.  Mickey on ice however is.  SAD.

I’m sure we’ve seen our share of Mickey Mouse hockey over the years. Fittingly we didn’t play it in DisneyLand last night.

I feel strongly that scoring or finishing CAN be taught to some degree. It seems that the scoring chances are being shot to "center mass" of the goalies, and this can be rectified?

Timing and posture are way off too.  Poor puck management, puck skipping off sticks, terrible control... I could go on. There are times when they seemed rushed and just fling toward net, then times they are holding the puck too long waiting for the “perfect” shot. They then get hampered and thrown off the puck. It’s a mess...

  6. We need people who can score. Goaltending and defense are largely present and accounted for. Other than those on IR at the current moment, nobody should feel safe. I’m not impressed with anyone on offense. I think most of us on this board could sling and fumble the puck around in the OZ just as (in)effectively as these guys.

The issue is someone would ruin it.  During the first celebration there was a guy who was like 40 or 50 years old jumping up and down all gritty like when the players crashed the glass.  If you let someone like him rush the ice then our players would need to utilize chasity belts or something of the sort.

I guess you didn’t pick up on my sarcasm 😏

Unfortunately, for the vast majority of the Canes that would be an act!  :o

I'm a fan, but would like to see them match the celebration to the game.  The only one that seemed forced to me was after the "meh" NJ game.  I'd have been fine with just the Skol clap maybe followed by a stick salute for that one.  But for those wins that leave you feeling elated, I say bring it on!  With a caution to avoid trying to one-up each one (as Rem mentions above).

Or the fans can rush the ice and knock the goal posts down similar to a major college football upset 😉

It's Yahoo, so they really don't know how to do anything except gush over that K family, the UK royals, and NBA "drama."  Plus, Adam Lambert (who apparently got his journalism chops by writing for his middle school newsletter) is their NHL beat writer. I'm not surprised....🙄

The way the Canes played last night, perhaps Duke could have done better 🤷🏻‍♂️

By the way, Sabres/Pens just went final: Eichel unassisted at :45 of OT for the win, 5-4. Skinner with a primary assist on an earlier goal for his 21st point in 20 games.

Nobody dislikes the slugs more than I do but you have to give them

some credit. They are looking good right now.

...to see them become the Candy Canes has been ridiculous.

Ain’t that the truth! I support this team through-and-through and like many here, we are hard in our criticisms (much of deserved) because we care. Sometimes you have to call it like it is. We’re a soft team that, I believe, Rod is trying to make tougher.  That’s why I comment in delight when I see us being the bully. When my Original 6 friends and family ask if I’m still pulling for the “Candy Canes” I want to reach out and touch them 🥊 but haven’t been able to argue with the term when many times I see our guys shy away from a scrum or refuse to work the corners along the boards for pucks. Most of us who grew up in environments where weakness and soft play draws ire and disdain don’t like seein our teams be that way...

I want to see them rough the Leafs up Wednesday.

They did find their game. If Darling had been in the crease, they'd have won.

I felt we were fairly physical with NJ last night. I think that also kept them just enough off their offensive game such that it prevented them from scoring the equalizer. Surely many would agree that the more physical we are, our odds of winning go up noticeably.  You can’t always sustain that type of bruising physicality over long stretches but you can apply it at the right times. That should be ingrained into our mentality. Nothing is more shameful than a soft response when the opponent is smashing your players.

  13. There is some sentiment that Q lost the locker room. This seems very familiar to LA’s departure with Darryl Sutter sans all the drawn-out dramatics.  Anytime something this major happens you’re going to have a wide array of theories, conspiracies, and opinions. Fact remains Q is one of the best in the business and I’m sure he’ll prosper wherever he lands next... if he decides to continue coaching.

  14. Watching Buffalo vs NYR right now. Not many more teams and fanbases I dislike more than the slugs.... but the Rags are in the Metro and direct competition. Skinner looks terrible in that Buffalo uni.

Update: Buffalo outshoots the Rags 40-21 and still lose by 2 goals. That seems awfully familiar ?...

Sup everyone, greetings from behind enemy lines in Caps territory (gross)!

Whoa! Another Caniac in Caps-land? Glad it’s not just me! Sorry for the late response. Belated welcome, my friend. ???
