  1. To whoever asked...I liked baby Levi, the first dozen or so times. But I think little Levi is probably in kindergarten by now, so I was getting more than a little tired of him. I love the new Hurricanes mobile commercial, but I, too, think it'll get old really fast. Rex needs to have an arsenal of a half-dozen or so different commercials to run and then change them every six months. Otherwise, whenever I see their commercials, I'll either change the channel, or think that they only helped give birth to just one baby - Levi. On another note, does anyone know who the fourth Hurricane is on the mobile? I saw Cam and Jay and Tuomo. But who's the other one?
  2. Well, the game didn't end until well after 11:00, about 11:30 or so, if I remember correctly. I wasn't looking at the clock ... I was shouting and cheering and jumping up and down! As of 12:38, they still hadn't left yet. I'm estimating that they're going to be leaving around their original arrival time and arriving here an hour and a half later. But, according to Mike Maniscalco, there will be food and t-shirts and signs there for us all! Wooooo-hooooooooo! I love the Hurricanes!!!
  3. Hi all -- Just checking on things before the OT period begins. For anyone who is new to this and wants directions, go to the bottom of page 4 of this discussion for a beautiful map and written directions. Thanks again, Dreamie!
  4. Here's a bit of helpful info that someone shared with me shortly after my first airport shout-and-greet during the first round: hey, just to help you out about last night....... Scott Walker drives a minivan of some sort. Tim Gleason drives a white Cadillac Escalade, and Dennis Seidenberg drives a very sleek black Mercedes........A lot of times Jussi and Ruutu ride together, and normally Joni follows them in his own car.... But I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't them all together for the away game..... Thanks for going out there, I'm sure they all appreciated it! Just so you know. I just checked Flight Aware, and the plane left Boston at 11:50 pm, so I'm on my way!
  5. Thanks, Dreamie! I got the flyer done, but the copy place was closed, so I didn't get them distributed. Oh, well, I'll just do it next time, because there will be a next time. If anyone would like a copy of the flyer, let me know and I'll email it to you. I tried attaching it, but it's larger than the 500K max. Naturally, we all know about the airport greetings, where to go, how to get there, etc. But I had to do extensive Google searching to find out because no one I knew or called knew anything about it. My goal now is to get as many people informed as possible, so that crowds can be as large as possible. So, if you'd like to help spread the word, let me know, and I'll help you do so! In the meantime, have fun, and I'll see you tonight! GO CANES!
  6. Dreamie, you ROCK!!! I'm going to make up a flyer/info sheet to pass out at Cool Bars tomorrow night. I was once curious about the whole airport thing. I wanted to do it, but didn't know where to go or who to ask to find out. I eventually did extensive Google searching to finally find this message board (and it was right in front of me the whole time!) and read about how it's "done" and how to get there, etc. If it's O.K. with you, I'd like to include your illustrated map and directions. Thanks!
  7. Oh my oh my oh my oh my oh my oh my! The guys have got to STOP waiting until the final seconds of the game to win it! It wreaks absolute havoc on all my internal systems! But, hey!, I'll take it! We're going on to the SECOND ROUND!!!!!! Wooooo-hoooooo! Can't wait to celebrate with other Caniacs! I'll see you at the airport! By the way, what's the flight number? Is it 3939? Or is it 3937?
  8. Thanks, Dreamie! You're, well, an absolute DREAM for coordinating all of this for us! Quick Aside: Did you see the new Ruutu shirts at The Eye, tonight? They're red and say "We're not Booing ... We're Ruuuuuuing!" on them. It was out of my budget, but I bought one anyway because the crowd in front of them made me think they were going to go like hotcakes!
  9. I asked at The Eye tonight (Sunday, Game 6) and was told that they are selling cowbells, complete with Hurricanes logo on them, for $7. Unfortunately, they only had about 140 tonight, and they sold out pretty quickly. If we continue on to Round 2, they'll get more in. Just keep an eye out at The Eye.
  10. Woooooo-hooooooo! Wooo-wooo-wooooooooo! (Who is Ric Flair, anyway, and is there a special reason he was chosen to be our Woo-woo guy? Just curious.) We're off to Game 7! Obviously, we'll be at the airport on Tuesday night. Who's going to make the phone calls? I was there the other day to pick up my phone, which apparently fell out of my pocket without my realizing it (thank you millions, Sue and Darryl (of Landmark Aviation), for keeping it safe for me!). I told Sue that if we won on Sunday, we'd be back on Tuesday night. She told me that they were aware of it and keeping an eye on the games so they'd know, but that a call and a heads-up wouldn't be a bad idea. Dreamie, you made the calls the last time. Do you want to do it again? If you can't, I'll call, if you share the numbers you called. If anyone else wants to do it, or if you've done it already, please let us know. As I left the other day, I saw that the Lot 2 gate was up and signs that read "Special Event Parking" had been strategically placed, so I have a feeling they might be expecting us. Oh, and does anyone know if the flight number will be the same? How do you find out what their flight number is, anyway? That's just something I'd like to know how to do, just in case someone who usually knows isn't online when someone who doesn't is. Thanks everyone! Canes RULE!
  11. Kudos to everyone who went to cheer the Canes home tonight! I know it's a school/work night, so the turnout wasn't as great as last Friday, but there were still a goodly number of Caniacs present; I'd estimate about 50 or so. I'd like to give special thanks to Jim Rutherford and Chad LaRose. Mr. Rutherford actually pulled up beside us, rolled down his window, and thanked us profusely for being there. It meant a lot to him. It meant a lot to us, too, truth be told. Chad was the only member of the team who cheered us on. He drove by a little more slowly than the rest and pumped his fist in the air (in a good way!) and cheered with us as he drove by. Several others waved, flashed their lights, or honked their horns, but mostly just drove by rather quickly as if wanting to be anywhere else but there. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, not really. I know the guys were tired, had a long day, and were probably still smarting from the night's loss, so understandably, they wanted to hurry home to their families and their own beds. But, still. Would it have been too terrible for them to at least roll down their windows and wave, or at least let us see their faces so we could get ecstatic at being able to identify who was driving by? No. I'm not complaining; I'm just a tad disappointed, is all. As for who I did see ... and believe me, I was excited when I recognized them ... I had a sort of viewing partner, Pam, I think her name was; as each car went by, we tried to figure out who was in it. We saw, as mentioned, Mr. Rutherford and Chad. We recognized (or thought we did) Tom Rowe, Chuck Kaiton, Wally the equipment guy, and Ron Francis. There was a car with three guys in it which Pam figured was the Finnish Contingent as she recognized Joni. I'm disappointed that I didn't get to see Ruutu (he's my mom's favorite). We also saw someone who was either Tim Gleason or Dennis Seidenberg. Trust me, at midnight, looking through moving car windows that are doing a superb job of reflecting street lights, it's easy to mistake Tim for Dennis. Or maybe Scott Walker. Can you see why I'd love it if they at least just rolled their windows down as they drove by? Regardless, I'll be there again on Tuesday, waving my rally rag, cheering and hollering with the rest of them, welcoming "my" guys home and praising a job well done ... win or lose. I love being a Caniac! Thanks to everyone who showed up, in person or in spirit. I hope to see you all again on Tuesday night!
  12. Seems I just might have answered my own question. I went to Flight Aware and entered the same flight information as the other day. To go directly to it without having to enter anything, here's the site: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/PCE3937''>http://flightaware.com/live/flight/PCE3937' target="_blank">http://flightaware.com/live/flight/PCE3937[/post]. They're listed as leaving New Jersey at 11:20 and arriving at RDU at 12:28-12:38. If you're coming for the first time, I'd try to get there earlier rather than later. I went for the first time the other night, got lost, and got there as the team was driving away. I missed them getting off the airplane or rounding the corner or whatever it is they do. I'm going to be there around midnight tonight so that I don't miss anything. Another tip for first-timers: drive through terminals 1 & 2 (or A & B, I forget which they use, letters or numbers), then be on the lookout for a sign that says General Aviation with an arrow pointing right. You're going to turn right to go to the General Aviation area. It comes up quickly if you don't know to look for it, and seems hidden in the dark. After you turn right, simply follow the road until you see the other fans. It seems the large parking lot will be open for us tonight, but the other day, we had to park in the Observation Park lot; just keep driving and you'll see the lot (it's a small one) around at the back of the large "employees only" parking lot. Simply walk through the trees at the back of the lot to get to the large parking lot and the fans. Good luck!
  13. Does anyone know the flight tracking information? When should we congregate? When will the guys get home? Thanks!
