After another week, here's how it looks:

Drayson Bowman (Spokane - WHL) 15 GP / 8 G / 6 A / +5 / 27 PIM

Zach Boychuk (Lethbridge - WHL) 6 GP / 3 G / 2 A / +3 / 4 PIM

Zac Dalpe (Ohio State - College) 9 GP / 4 G / 3 A / 4 PIM

Justin McCrae (Spokane - WHL) 1 GP / 1 A / +2

Samuel Morneau (Val-d'Or - QMJHL) 16 GP / 6 G / 8 A / -11 / 23 PIM

Chris Terry (Plymouth - OHL) 16 GP / 12 G / 9 A / 29 PIM

Michal Jordan (Plymouth - OHL) 16 GP / 2 G / 11 A / +5 / 12 PIM

Justin Krueger (Cornell - College) 1 GP

Timothy Kunes (Boston College - College) 6 GP

Kyle Lawson (Notre Dame - College) 8 GP / 2 G / 3 A

Jamie McBain (Wisconsin - College) 9 GP / 2 G / 7 A / 4 PIM

Mike Murphy (Belleville - OHL) 15 GP (10-3-1-1) / 1.98 GAA / 2 Shutouts

Lawson and McBain both had a significant week in terms of production and Murphy seems to have entered back into that zone he finished last season in.

I think alot of that has to do with the team that he plays for. Val-d'Or is 2-17-1-1 and has already allowed 101 goals in 21 games-played, which amounts to about five goals-against per game. Alexandre Monahan, one of Morneau's teammates, has 15 points on the season and has a +/- ratio currently at -14. I can't imagine it's been a memorable season for the coaches, players, or fans in Val-d'Or.

This week, Murphy continues his dominance in the OHL while Jordan, Lawson, and McBain look like defensemen to get excited about in the future.

Zach Boychuk (Lethbridge - WHL) 10 GP / 5 G / 4 A / +3 / 4 PIM

Zac Dalpe (Ohio State - College) 11 GP / 6 G / 4 A / +2 / 4 PIM

Justin McCrae (Spokane - WHL) 1 GP / 1 A / +2

On a night where Mike Murphy stopped 40-of-41 shots that he faced in a 8-1 Belleville victory, I felt it was necessary to show some highlight videos courtesy of Youtube.

Thus far, I would say this looks to be one of the best late-round draft picks in Hurricanes' history. Murphy currently boasts a 1.86 GAA, the next closest goaltender in the OHL is Detroit Red Wings first-round draft pick Thomas McCollum with a 2.26.

Since he will more than likley start his pro career here in Albany next season I am really excited about his numbers. With the season we are having here in Albany right now makes me kind of wish this season was over now and next season would start. Can not wait to see if he can put up the same kind of numbers as a pro. If he does play here next season and he can put up them kind of numbers I think we may have a real good season.

Another notable performance last night was Zach Boychuk, who scored two goals in a 6-2 victory for his Lethbridge Hurricanes over the Prince Albert Raiders. He now has seven goals and six assists in 12 games-played.

It'll be awsome to see Murphy in the crease for the River Rats, and Boychuk and Sutter teamed up on the same line.......maybe next year? Things are looking very good prospect wise.

With Sutter's ability to set up the play and Boychuk's ability to put the puck in the net, they could eventually become quite the dynamic duo here in Carolina.

Drayson Bowman, Chris Terry, and Jamie McBain currently lead their respective teams in terms of points.

It's been awhile, but with the All-Star break I felt it was the perfect time to update everyone on our prospects' progress.

Drayson Bowman (Spokane - WHL) 36 GP / 20 G / 20 A / +19 / 62 PIM

Zach Boychuk (Lethbridge - WHL) 22 GP / 12 G / 15 A / +17 / 8 PIM

Zac Dalpe (Ohio State - College) 24 GP / 12 G / 5 A / +7 / 21 PIM

Justin McCrae (Spokane - WHL) 15 GP / 2 G / 4 A / -4 / 6 PIM

Samuel Morneau (Val-d'Or - QMJHL) 44 GP / 18 G / 22 A / -15 / 51 PIM

Chris Terry (Plymouth - OHL) 31 GP / 23 G / 23 A / +8 / 49 PIM

Michal Jordan (Plymouth - OHL) 36 GP / 4 G / 18 A / +7 / 20 PIM

Justin Krueger (Cornell - College) 18 GP / 1 G / 3 A / 8 PIM

Timothy Kunes (Boston College - College) 17 GP / 2 A / 6 PIM

Kyle Lawson (Notre Dame - College) 25 GP / 2 G / 10 A / +13 / 30 PIM

Jamie McBain (Wisconsin - College) 26 GP / 5 G / 23 A / / -8 / 16 PIM

Mike Murphy (Belleville - OHL) 35 GP (24-6-2-2) / 2.02 GAA / 3 Shutouts

Drayson Bowman and Jamie McBain continue to lead their respective teams in points while Mike Murphy continues to be, statistically, the best goaltender in the Ontario Hockey League.

Here is a great article about Jamie McBain's development and maturation at Wisconsin over the last few years. Sounds like he could potentially challenge for a roster spot as soon as next season, although I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to stay his senior year and graduate.

On the Road with Zac Dalpe

McBain for the Hobey

The numbers speak for themselves. Bowman, Boychuk, Murphy, and Terry could all potentially challenge for a spot with the Hurricanes next season, as could McBain if he decides to leave Wisconsin at the end of his junior season. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Kyle Lawson given an opportunity to make the roster as a bottom-pair defenseman and powerplay specialist.

I would encourage everyone to check out the above McBain website as it really puts his production this season into perspective. He could potentially be a VERY special player in the NHL.

Another week, another update:

Drayson Bowman (Spokane - WHL) 50 GP / 35 G / 31 A / +30 / 92 PIM

Zach Boychuk (Lethbridge - WHL) 33 GP / 19 G / 23 A / +14 / 16 PIM

Zac Dalpe (Ohio State - College) 28 GP / 13 G / 8 A / +9 / 21 PIM

Samuel Morneau (Val-d'Or - QMJHL) 56 GP / 22 G / 25 A / -16 / 65 PIM

Chris Terry (Plymouth - OHL) 43 GP / 33 G / 38 A / +20 / 67 PIM

Michal Jordan (Plymouth - OHL) 48 GP / 10 G / 24 A / +17 / 30 PIM

Justin Krueger (Cornell - College) 26 GP / 1 G / 4 A / 18 PIM

Timothy Kunes (Boston College - College) 27 GP / 1 G / 3 A / 12 PIM

Kyle Lawson (Notre Dame - College) 33 GP / 3 G / 16 A / +9 / 36 PIM

Jamie McBain (Wisconsin - College) 32 GP / 7 G / 27 A / 20 PIM

Mike Murphy (Belleville - OHL) 46 GP (33-8-2-2) / 2.11 GAA / 4 Shutouts

Bowman and Terry continue to impress in the CHL, as does Jordan who I think is the real surprise amongst the Hurricanes' prospects this season. This past Friday, Jordan recorded a hat trick and tallied an assist while Terry recorded two goals and two assists in an 8-3 Plymouth victory.

Brett Bellemore makes his return to the prospect update, I had overlooked him since he was returned to Plymouth a few weeks ago. With three forwards and one defenseman currently scoring at or above a point-per-game pace, I think it's safe to say that the system is as strong as it has ever been in the Hurricanes' history.

Drayson Bowman (Spokane - WHL) 54 GP / 40 G / 31 A / +31 / 92 PIM

Zach Boychuk (Lethbridge - WHL) 36 GP / 21 G / 27 A / +16 / 18 PIM

Zac Dalpe (Ohio State - College) 32 GP / 13 G / 10 A / +8 / 21 PIM

Justin McCrae (Spokane - WHL) 29 GP / 6 G / 5 A / -2 / 17 PIM

Samuel Morneau (Val-d'Or - QMJHL) 58 GP / 23 G / 26 A / -18 / 67 PIM

Chris Terry (Plymouth - OHL) 46 GP / 36 G / 44 A / +28 / 67 PIM

Brett Bellemore (Plymouth - OHL) 22 GP / 1 G / 7 A / +20 / 28 PIM

Michal Jordan (Plymouth - OHL) 51 GP / 11 G / 25 A / +24 / 30 PIM

Justin Krueger (Cornell - College) 28 GP / 1 G / 4 A / 18 PIM

Kyle Lawson (Notre Dame - College) 34 GP / 3 G / 16 A / +11 / 36 PIM

Jamie McBain (Wisconsin - College) 34 GP / 7 G / 27 A / 24 PIM

Mike Murphy (Belleville - OHL) 49 GP (35-9-2-2) / 2.15 GAA / 4 Shutouts

Sorry for the delay, the way the statistics were recorded for tournament play in the NCAA (they were simply included with the regular season statistics) made them rather difficult to keep track of. At this point, every prospect has completed regular season play and most were involved in their respective league's postseason.

Of the college hockey prospects, Justin Krueger with Cornell is the only prospect still in the NCAA tournament. Jamie McBain's college career is over as he has signed a professional contract and has joined the Albany River Rats.
