Interim captain Pat Dwyer and Ryan Weston had two goals apiece and Justin Peters made 30 saves to lead the River Rats past the Springfield Falcons, 5-3 in Springfield, Mass.

Weston had the winning goal midway through the third period, then sealed the game on an empty-netter with nine seconds left.

Tifu was the only change in the lineup for the Rats, who played with 17 skaters, one under the limit.

Yannick Tifu, who had been out since Albany's Feb. 19 bus crash, and played only one game since injuring his knee in a mid-January practice, had the lone assist on Dwyer's second goal.

Jakub Petruzalek also scored for Albany (27-27-3-3), which gained two points in the East Division standings on fourth-place Binghamton, a 6-5 loser in regulation tonight at Bridgeport.

Defenseman Bryan Rodney had two assists, giving him five points (1g, 4a) in his last two games.

Albany plays at Worcester Saturday night, and hosts Syracuse Sunday afternoon at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
