Wolf Pack Hunt Down River Rats 5-1

Recommended Posts

The River Rats allowed five unanswered goals after taking an early lead and lost their 13th straight game to the Hartford Wolf Pack tonight at the former Knickerbocker Arena.

Mark Bell and Artem Anisimov scored twice and Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau had a goal and two assists for Atlantic Division-leading Hartford (41-26-3-3). Goalie Matt Zaba needed to make only 19 saves to improve to 9-0-1-0 in his last 10 starts.

Tomas Pospisil had the lone goal for Albany (31-33-3-4), his first since joining the Rats from the Chicago Wolves earlier this month, just 1:45 into the game. Ryan Weston had the lone assist.

Albany is now 0-12-0-1 against Hartford dating back to the 2003-04 season. The Rats last beat the Wolf Pack on Jan. 14, 2004.

Justin Peters stopped 17 of 22 shots for Albany, which hosts the Springfield Falcons Saturday night at 7.

Newly signed defenseman Jamie McBain made his pro debut for the Rats, going minus-2 with one shot, a glove save by Zaba on a two-on-one break midway through the second period.

Former Rats head coach Tom Rowe attended the game. Rowe is now an assistant coach with the parent Carolina Hurricanes, who had tonight off before playing at the New Jersey Devils tomorrow.
