Recommended Posts

Washington and Atlanta both get at least one point taking games to OT and lasting through OT.. we'll see what the shootout brings.

Florida beats the wooful Isles and gets 2 points. 2-2-0 for 4 points.

Crosby hits 99 career goals in 4-1 win over Toronto, also has 3 assists with his one goal... wow..

Tampa and Minnesota scoreless tie with 2:38 left in the third.

*Atlanta wins in the shootout...grabs 2 points over buffalo. This will put them in a tie with Carolina for 5 points at 2-2-1, Carolina has played 1 less game.

**Washington drops the shootout to NJ.. picks up 1 point to increase lead to 7 points.

Bolts lose in the shootout to remain winless on the year. Seems a good deal of the crowd stayed home to watch the Rays game. Should they win the title will they claim the Devil had been exorcised?

If a goalie takes a 0-0 tie through overtime and then loses a shootout.. his GAA is 0.00 (shootout goals dont count) and his Sv% is 100%, but does it count as a shutout since he lost 0-1... ? For that matter does it count for the winning goalie either? I would assume it would count for the winner.. how about the loser? Its a regulation shutout, but does it not count if its a loss?

Not to take this thread too far off topic, but I'm curious since it happened in this game, and it would affect my opponent in fantasy.

To come back to topic.. Edmonton has scored 3 goals in the 2nd to take a 3-2 lead over Calgary, Cole had 0g 0a and is even plus/minus. Is it just me or does he seem to not be fitting in very well in Edmonton? At least he hasnt made quite as big a splash as Pitkanen has for us.. Cole has 1g and 1a.

Montreal defeats Florida 3-1, Cory Stillman gets an assist on Florida's sole goal. Stillman is off to a hot start with 2G and 2A, both goals on the powerplay.. he is second on the team with 4 points. Florida however is only 2-3 and 1 point better then tampa at 4.

Here an interesting arguement about the OT points.. it could be argued for or against depending on the team, Florida has 2 wins, 3 losses for 4 points.. Tampa bay is winless, with 2 loses and 3 OT-Losses... hence they have 3 points and only trail Florida by 1 point, yet they have yet to win a game. Granted they wont make the playoffs that way, but now Tampa only has to win one game to go to 5 points and be ahead of florida in the standings.

How frustrating it must be to be Tampa bay.. a few red lights away from being 5-0... Two 2 to 1 loses to open the season and then 3 consecutive OT losses...

Mike Commodore got an assist on the game winner, and was a +3 in the Blue Jackets 4-2 win over Vancouver last night. He also had the announcers talking about him as part of a new "big, physical" D corp for CBJ.

Cory Stillman picks up a goal and an assist in Floridas 3-1 win over ottawa tonight. Man is he off to a hot start of the season.. 3g and 3a.

Marty Gerber unfortunatly is not having a good start to the year with a 1-3-1 record and a 3.46 GAA.

The win throws Florida into the mix in the SE div.. Carolina leads with 7pts (5 games) followed by Washington at 7pts (6games), then Florida and Atlants at 6 pts each, with Tampa brings up the rear with 5 points.

Tampa finally picked up a win 3-2 in overtime over Atlanta last night.

Washington lost to Pheonix 2-1 last night, so we didnt lose our place as first in the SE with the loss last night.

As for "Super" saturday, Carolina gets the Isles, we better win that one. Tampa gets San Jose so mark an L for Tampa, Atlanta gets Boston which is kinda a toss up, Florida faces St Louis and Washington faces Dallas all three on the road. Carolina could be the only team to get a win on Saturday.

Cory Stillman continues his impressive start to the year with 2 goals and an assist in tonight 4-3 win over SJ. Cory now has 5 goals and 3 assists, and has had 3 multipoint games in a row. He scored on both of his 2 SOG tonight. He is starting to look like a stellar pickup for Florida. He will probably be leading the team in points after tonight.

Atlanta loses to Boston 5-4, Tampa loses to SJ 3-0, Washington is ahead of dallas 5-4 in a barnburner late in the 3rd, and Florida is losing 3-0 to St Louis. Add the Canes win, and as it stands, if Florida loses, Carolina and Washington will both jump to 9 points, Canes will retake #1 in the divison based on 7 games played to Washingtons 8.

Hey maybe thats not such a bad thing... The Sharks had 50 SOG and lost.. the Isles had 60 SOG and lost... can you make a prediction about the Habs?

If you think it will help, 70, just to complete the pattern.

A little late, but yikes, what a game to end the night in the NHL yesterday. 2-1 ducks after 1, then Canucks score 4 straight, then Ducks reply with 3 of their own. Canucks then scored in the 3rd, but the Ducks tied it again with around 50 seconds left. Shootout was brutal... took until Ohlund (13th shooter for the Canucks) to win it, 26 shooters overall. Seemed like noone except the goalies wanted to win this.

Washington got blanked 5-0 by Buffalo. Atlanta got beat by NJ 6-1 and Tampa is currently trailing Ottawa 2-1. So at least the loss today wont affect Carolina's place in the standings. Florida is leading Nashville 2-1 after two and if they win, they will leapfrog Tampa for 3rd in the division if TB loses.
