Im willing to bet a lot of money we see Brodeur tomorrow night. The Devils cant afford another loss or they'll lose position to the Caps and....there's a pretty good chance that they may be matched up with the Canes for the 1st round (if and when we make it). They'll want to make a statement on home ice and will be ready to play. The Canes just need to skate and hit hard early because the Devils played an exausting OT game tonight. Brodeur can be beat if the rest of the team gets worn out.

Well, I'm expecting a loss tomorrow night. We've won 5 in a row, time to lose again. But I'll take 5 win, 1 lost repetition over the win 1 lose 1 thing..... I'm hoping for a win, and I can envision it, but with it being NJ and Broduer goaling... yeah..

Problem is, we can enter this long break on a loss. Wouldn't bode well for the team, and would give others behind in the standings a glimmer of hope. If we lose today, and the other teams start playing really well during the time off, I wouldn't be surprised to see a little panic in the team during Thursday's game.

With Pittsburgh winning their game over the Rangers this afternoon, we drop to 6th place ... good news is, if we manage to pull out a win tonight over the Devils, we move past both Pittsburgh and Philly up to 4th place. (Then again, Philly's got three games in hand, so not sure exactly how that would work.)

On the other hand, if Philly wins their game against the Islanders tonight, forget everything I just wrote, LOL.

(Over on NHL.com, when viewing the standings, the last column (Streak) shows how many games each team as either won or lost .... no one is even close to our "WON 5". ) thumbsup.gif

According to this mornings standings, we are still 5th, 1 point behind Philly (who won) and 1 point ahead of Pittsburgh (who won), 4 points ahead of the Rangers (who lost) and 5 points ahead of the Habs (who got 1 point in a OTL).

Winning last night was a key game for sure. We would have dropped, but only to 6th.. but then would have only been 2 points ahead of NY and 3 points ahead of the Habs. Since we have a long break, some teams will once again be burning their games in hand (we hope with losses).. so we may drop in the standings over the break, but we should climb back up with a few wins when we play again. The Rangers game on thursday will probably be a fight for position.

The Rangers host NJ on monday, hopefully the Devils will take out some frustration and beat them badly, come into Raleigh on thursday feeling awful.

Florida and Ottawa play Tuesday, a florida loss could end their race.

Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Philly all play wendsday.

I have a feeling this is going to be a pretty busy thread until our next game, LOL. hehe.gif

Bruins are up 3-1 at the end of the first. Hopefully that will keep up. I dont expect us to nab 4th place and home ice, but man it would be nice.

The Vancouver/Chicago game has turned into a scoring fest for one line.. the score is 3-0 and the same 3 guys have either goals or assists on all three. Daniel Sedin has 2 goals and 1 assist, Alex Burrows has 1 goal and 2 assists, and Henrik Sedin has 3 assists.

Recchi scores for Boston and makes it 4-2.

We got a little help from the B's tonight. Philly gave Boston a

pretty good game. What counts for us is the Flyers burned a

game in hand and didn't get any points.

Bruins look to be back to their winning ways. Whoever they play in round 1 will get stomped, Canes need to keep pace and stay higher in the standings.
