Hedican retiring

Recommended Posts

Come on Jimmy, sign him for one day and let him retire a Cane!
I second this motion.  Congrats on a fantastic career Bret.  Once a Cane, Always a Cane, and one of the immortals engraved on that Silver Cup.

Figured this was coming, I'd actually looked a couple of times over the summer to see if he made it official. I agree it would be nice to see him retire as a Cane. Good luck to him.

Hedican was a class act when he was with us  and  he remains a

class act. I  say to JR find a way to let him dress for one game

and retire as a Hurricanes

I don't believe one-day contracts are awarded unless it's a very special occasion.

The best Rutherford could do is offer a league minimum contract (475k) with special performance clauses that would essentially reduce Hedican's contract to nothing.

"After 17 years of playing, I have decided to move on to the nextchapter in my life," Hedican said. "I'm proud to have played this gamefor as long as I have and I'm leaving with no regrets. I want to thankall of the general managers who believed in me, the coaches who got thebest out of me and all of my teammates who made me a better hockeyplayer. To the 2006
Stanley Cup team, you guys will always be my brothers. Today, I amcurrently working on a new venture but one day look forward to gettingback into the game of hockey in some way." - Bret Hedican
