Official Countdown Clock to the 2010-11 season

Recommended Posts

The 2005-2006 was the most successful season in the history of the club. The Hurricanes posted a 52-22-8 record. Good enough to win the southeast and a precursor to a cup raising affair in Raleigh.

Rod Brind'Amour  played in 159 career Stanley Cup playoff games, totaling 51 goals. During the upcoming season Brindy will see his sweater hoisted into the RBC Center rafters. Can the Hall of Fame be far off!

48 days till opening day...

Anton Babchuk wore the #48 on his jersey in the 2005-06 & the 2006-07 season for the 'Canes.  The previous player to wear #48 was Nikos Tselios in the 2001-02 season.  He played 2 games for the 'Canes, the year they lost in the SCF's to the Detroit Red Wings but put Raleigh NC and the tailgating Caniacs on the NHL map forever.

46 days until opening day...the 46th game of the 2005-06 season for the Hurricanes was the last win in their second nine-game winning streak.

In their inaugural season in the WHA, the then-New England Whalers won 46 games, and then the Avco World Cup.

The Hurricanes have reportedly set a $44 million salary limit to start the 2010/11 season. The Canes will need to shed a couple more mil if they are to meet that goal.

I feel much better now too.

39 to go:

39, # of assists Rod Brind'Amour had in 05-06

Don't forget this guy, 2006 might not have been the same without Doug Weight joining the party at the trade deadline:
