Recommended Posts

Lets see, watched part 1 of the death note movie, which as pretty good, the effects were not great but got the same feel that the series did.

I dated a girl was was into Death Note. At the time I think they were filming the movie... I need to get out more.

My sister and I just took a trip to Orlando Florida and stayed at Universal Studios. On our last day we decided to do this special dinner and a movie ticket combo. We watched The Hangover 2. I have the 1st one and it was the funnies movie I had ever seen. This one was extremely funny as well, but not quite as funny as the first in my opinion.

Just watched "Moby *edit*" (1956). Pretty close to the book, esp. for ANY movie. There aren't any easily notable discrepancies.

So . . .

Maybe it should be "Moby Rick" . . . :bangHead:

(I laughed at it too when I saw, then started to edit to force it, then left as was-as is quite comical.

I hope no one who is named Richard and goes my the "D-word" 4-letter nickname . . .

Could make it difficult on forums.

Oh, and the University of South Carolina's mascot causes issues on nearly every forum, even if it is a fighting rooster.

I took my 8 year old son to see the final installment Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

It was simply awesome!

I'm also waiting for Horrible Bosses to come out over here in Scotland, we're normally a week or so behind you Americans (Unless it's a British movie, like Harry Potter).

I agree with TheScottishEnforcer The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows part 2 was an awesome movie. We went with some of the parents and kids (my kid is now 19) we went with to the first Harry Potter movie. It was fun.

Agreed! I saw Harry Potter today and it was amazing. I can't wait for it to come on DVD!

Also saw Transformers last week. It was okay. Not really my type of movie and I didn't see any of the other ones.

Most recent movie in the Theater - Harry Potter:DH2. Very good exciting finish to the series. One thing that set me back a little bit is it seemed like the second half of the movie skipped A LOT, but then I realized, the first movie went well past the halfway point of the book leaving only the climactic battle for the second movie, which is basically all it is. A little bit of back story and intro and then all out war. I won't spoil anything to those how haven't seen it yet. Very good movie, a little disappointing that the series is over now.

Two Movies we watched the other day from the 1$ redbox (love that thing) Nicolas Cage in The Sorcerers Apprentice and Red Riding Hood with Gary Oldman. Sorcerers Apprentice was a pretty good campy flick, typical Disney "magic", more funny than scary. I thought it was worth a 1$ watch, certainly not 18$ theater fare. Lately the only movies my wife and I go see in the theater are big blockbusters like Harry Potter, Thor, Transformers, Twilight etc. Movies that might be good but not great wait for DVD.

Red Riding Hood was.. well... weird. A werewolf horror film mixed with a Shakespearean love tale. The heroine fights between the man she truly loves and the man her parents have set her up with while simultaneously trying to save the village from a werewolf who also happens to be one of the people who lives in the village. They foreshadow several times who might be the werewolf, and then it has a Shamalyanian twist at the end. Like I said.. weird. Looked much better from the previews. Worth a $1 watch or a HBO freebie, but otherwise not much going on here.

There hasn't been any movies out in a while that have even seemed remotely interesting to me so since we are in a lull during the ASB I thought I would go over my top movies of 2012 that I am most looking forward to.

On the fence until more is known: 47 Ronin, Total Recall, The Dictator, Dorthy of Oz

Bonus: Movies that I will steal the only copy of before release and toss into a fire if I could:

1. Obvious, breaking dawn part 2

2. Hunger Games - A rip off of battle royale and is the next twilight

3. Anything that is in 3D, starwars, halloween, nemo

4. GI Joe, the first movie was terrible, why a second one is beyond me.

5. The amazing spiderman - not needed, the CGI looks like crap and they

6. What to expect when your expecting. Seriously Hollywood... a movie about a pregnancy guide book. /facepalm

Bonus 2: I will probably see Ghost Rider 2, not because it will be any good but because Nicolas Cage will do anything and is hilarious.

Haha, I thought I was the only one who hates 3D movies. Way too distracting for me.

The only movie I've seen recently was with the kids, "We Bought a Zoo." I thought it was great and was pleasantly surprised to see Matt Damon in it being a family guy and not playing his usual type of adventure/suspense/drama type role. The kids loved it.

I don't even mind the 3-D tech by itself, its how they choose to deploy it and use it on movies that were never intended for 3-D. To be fair cartoons are not as bad, so the nemo movie in 3-D might actually be good. Matt Damon was in Contagion as a family guy as well, I highly recommend that movie, not for the kids though.

I'm looking forward to some of the movies you listed. Here are some I AM NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO:

21 Jump Street- Another Popular TV Series to big screen that will be a flop!

Goon- Rip off of one of the best hockey movies ever (Slap Shot)!

Total Recall- remaking a classic Arnold movie! Doesn't Hollywood have a creative mind to make something original?

Dredd- remaking Stallone's movie! SEE ABOVE!!!

Red Dawn- remaking Swayze's movies! SEE ABOVE!!!

OK, there is one I am looking forward to and hoping it will be good. The 3 Stooges movie (grew up watching them and they are still funny to me today!) Will Sasso as Curly? We shall see.

I saw "The Devil Inside" a few weeks ago. What a horrible movie. I would go so far as to say it was the worst movie I have ever seen in my life. Not scary at all. Horrible plot, brutal ending. In fact the ending happened so quickly that it took everyone by surprise and we all just kind of hung around during credits thinking that more was coming until they put the lights on in the theater.

Wish I could get my money back on that one.

This is going to rock.

I found myself with a lot of free time lately, so I've been watching a LOT of spaghetti westerns and low budget movies on YouTube. It's been a ton of fun.

As far as big budget, I've seen a few lately. Hurt Locker was pretty good, but I'm not sure I get all the hype. The Eagle, which was really good. I saw the new Conan, which was horrible. And a Stanley Kubrick film called Barry Lyndon. That was a pretty good rags-to-riches then total inward collapse kind of movie (like Scarface, There Will Be Blood and Casino) that takes place in Europe in the mid-to-late 1700s. I don't really like the setting/time period, nor do I normally like Kubrick's films, but it was pretty good.
