It could all come down to 4/3 - Buf @ Canes

104 posts in this topic

I am no longer willing to see OUR HOUSE be disrespected and I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is. The April 3 game is a Sunday, 5PM game. It is also one of the STH appreciation games that STH's can buy additional tickets (link http://hurricanes.nh...ge.htm?id=64123). I'll certainly be doing my part to fill up the place.

I hereby issue a challenge to all Caniacs to fill that place up with red on April 3 and drown out the Buffalonians. Put on your big boy or big girl pants and show up if you already have tickets.

**Hope you don't mind cc but we decided this thread needed a new direction. Since the game is sold out, this topic seems to have run its course. Whatever that course was or whoever it was for.

Not to throw a wet blanket on the idea( esp as so many empty seats last night),but i'd think most of the saber fans that live here have already bought their tickets to the game, I know a few in our section last night said already had their april tickets, they bought both when first went on sale...So while would love a sell out and the reamining tickets all cane fans- just IMO most of the buffalo fans there last nigth have already bought for 4/3

There are blocks already that have been sold. Expect a lot more than last night because its over a weekend.

Nice idea though CC.

After we beat them on the 15th in their barn, and they lose the rest of their games on this road trip, they will not be competing for a playoff spot by then anyways.

That's how my world works.cool.gif

Maybe I'm alone but I thought the Buffalo fans were fairly well behaved last night. There were plenty in attendance and they cheered loud when the Sabre's scored but I didn't see any of the usual boorish behavior we've all come to know and love. I did notice at one point maybe in the 3rd period that there was some cheering up around sec 331 and noticed security escorting someone out.

Maybe the calmer than usual atmosphere last night can be attributed to the fact that there was a paddy-wagon sitting outside the arena before the game with Raleigh's finest stationed at several check points ready to go?

I'd much rather see more Canes fans at the RBC but I don't mind the Buffalo games at all and actually look forward to them. Of course I also enjoy going to Yankee stadium wearing my Red Sox gear ;) . It does make a for a good rivalry in the stands with tons of energy but last night was a strange one for sure and I don't think it felt much like a playoff game till late in the 3rd and into the OT. Even the Sabre fans who tried to start the 'LetsgoBuffalo' chant put very little into it and were easily drowned out.

They're going to be here on April 3rd so go to game, stake your claim and let the RPD handle the out of control drunks. The RBC staff and the Raleigh PD are well aware of what they're dealing with and take every precaution they can to not let problems escalate. The Slug fans can come and buy tickets and all the $10 beers they want and if they can't behave, they'll be tossed without warning or explanation.

Agree with that!. thought there were more amd MUCH LOUDER pitt's fans the other week for that game... Was suprised with the exception of the 2 goals, they were very quiet and sitting on their hands most of the night last night- though did hear some lame stuff on the way out of the building, but typical sour grapes you hear... I also didn't any fights or bad behaivor all night, which suprised me based on the history, but maybe alot of that was because during week and not weekend and less alcohol consumption.

Highlights of My Game Experience Last Night

- Almost ran over some drunkard at 5:00 holding a "Raleigh Sucks" sign as he made a point to introduce himself to every car entering the East Lot. I saw him taunting as many people as possible with the same sign inside the arena

- My wife and I were thoroughly cursed as being heathens from Raleigh by another group of Buffalosers as we attempted to tailgate for an hour or so. We put our stuff in the truck and moved

- Another wonderful person from western NY attempted to take down my Hurricanes flags. I know he was from Buffalo because he told my wife and I he drove all day to be here.

- Once in our seats, the wonderful group behind us continued to pour beer all over themselves while making sure we were in on that fun as well

- The group of Buffalosers in the section beside us knew every curse word known to man, and used every one as well

- But to top it off, when we won the game in overtime, the bunch of Buffalosers on the other side of us reigned down hot nachos and cheese all over us. My wife was burnt and both of our jerseys are likely ruined.

I hate 'em, every last one of em. It would be different if it was just one game, but every stinkin time it's something with these morons. It's no wonder people with kids stay away.

“When a great team loses through complacency, it will constantly search for new and more intricate explanations to explain away defeat.”

Pat Riley

This isn't about them attending . It is about us not. This date is not on the 26 game plan and a promotional night for STH. They are loads of tickets available.

Our intensity as fans last night was below abyssmal. Multiple basically unchallenged chants by their fans in section 107. The Florida game was even worse. Yes, I said it.

I for one will not be left thinking I did not try hard enough as a fan when we miss the playoffs. No excuses. No whining. Be There, Be Loud. Represent. That is how I roll. Get ready for the horn in 124.

Here is one more for ya.

Wow that sucks Coastal. Sorry you dealt with all of that, kinda glad I missed it. Must have given you some satisfaction to leave the arena knowing your team just secured 2 points and peace of mind knowing there weren't any pint glasses anywhere for throwing.

I'll be there with a big group of 8 folks on April 3rd. Several of my group, including an 8 and 10-year old, have never attended a hockey game. I just hope and pray things are better just this one time. I am going to move our tailgate location for this game though, just to avoid some issues I've had over the years with these folks in the East Lot.

Deep down, I know they are not all bad apples, it just seems I'm always in the wrong place. Still hate em though.

I would have been in Jail and as many B-loers as possible with me or in Urgent care.

I would, but it's sadly just too expensive to travel down for a hockey game. I'll be going to the Canes @ Isles game on April 2nd though, we'll be right in-between the two benches wearing Canes jerseys. :D

You better believe I'll be there. Work prevented me from going last night... but April 3 is a Sunday, and I don't work on Sundays. I'm there for sure.

...and some of you say there is no rivalry. I don't care if there's nothing between the teams... there's a strong hate between the fans, and that constitutes a rivalry to me. What happened to coastal is pathetic, but not surprising at all. We know all about the scumbags their fan base has.

The other night in section 129 there were a group of Sabres fans in front of us. They weren't that annoying besides the obviously drunk woman who refused to sit down half of the game. When she did "sit" she sat on top of her folded seat, sitting a good half foot higher than anyone in her row, still blocking the view for about 6 people in my row and the rows behind me. She also stood the entire overtime, but as soon as we won a man by me poured his beer on her and said "Oops, butterfingers". It was hilarious, but honestly the only time there are problems at 'Canes games it's when there are Sabres fans there. The last Sabres game I went to before this one, some drunk moron Sabres fan threw his thing of popcorn at a 'Canes fan. He got kicked out, because he was also yelling curses at him.

Coastal, your experience is completely unacceptable. I encourage you to contact the organization and same for any employee that has read his message. You're clearly more composed than I likely could have been.

I was surprised at how small the crowd was last night. This clearly tells me that the expected behavior from the Sabre fans has impacted gate receipts when they play here. That is something the organization should take note of.

I encourage everyone with a cell phone, camera, recording device to get evidence and share. Send a message to all involved that this behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated, period! Let the Canes organization get WAY out in front of this and take whatever action is required. That includes protecting ALL fans, removing posters that are offensive and responding to requests for help. Let them set up a system where fans can text SEC/ROW/SEAT and get a response with an expected service level.

I'm fine with anyone buying a ticket, even if a Sabre fan. However, every single act that illegally impacts another fan, or violates the specified rules of the organization, should have ZERO tolerance for the next visit by Buffalo.

Lastly, Canes fans need to behave, too. This isn't a one-sided deal to protect a certain fan group, but an evenly administered code of responsibility to the fans.

This game was in the 12 game pack wooohooo....I will be there :) along with 7 other Caniacs!!! I promise we will behave and WE WILL BE LOUD!!! Look for us section 112. I have to admit Slug games and Pits games can be a challenge but I refuse to let them come in to OUR BARN and make a stand...If the boys can get it done on the ice I can do my part to keep their fans quiet in the stands :clapper::clapper::clapper: See everyone there

We used one of our vouchers to get tickets to the April 3 game. We always go to the Buffalo games whether or not they are in our 26-game package. We will buy tickets if we have to. Both Mr. P2BC and I hate Buffalo and especially their fans, although, ironically, we have good friends who moved here from the Buffalo area about 10 years ago, who are big Buffalo fans. However, they are equally embarrassed by the the antics of some of the Sabre's fans. But because of the hatred we always make it a point to go to those games, and we always wear our jerseys with the Stanley Cup Champions patches too.

Perhaps the Canes need to take a page from the Kitty-kat playbook and charge more for games that draw legions of opposing fans. Would love to know the differnce between tickets sold and actual attendence as it would give somewhat of an idea of STH who stayed home to avoid having to deal with the buffaslug fans. The 4/3 game concerns me b/c its 5PM start means there is a greater chance of dealing with drunken behavior (from both sides)

Hey, I'm over it. Our jerseys will clean up at the dry cleaners and no one was hurt, or got into a fight, etc. I'll be there in April. :) Agree about Canes fans too, we aren't saints either when the Slugs visit.
