They posted on Facebook that they got it. :) Great news for BUG and his family. I was at the March 27th game and the Checkers are quickly building a following and they really appreciate the fans. The SPHL/ECHL Checkers have been in Charlotte for a long time and its awesome to see the AHL Checkers get the same support.

CHECKERS, ZACH BENNETT, FAMILY TO BE FEATURED ON ESPN E:60

Watch party/Fan Fest scheduled for Tuesday at Pavilion at EpiCentre

The Checkers announced today that the organization, several of its players and new Charlotte residents Zach, Jenna, Randy and Danielle Bennett will be featured on ESPN’s weekly investigative newsmagazine show E:60. The piece will air during Tuesday’s season finale at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

It was announced in April that the Checkers, with the help of sponsors, donations and fan support, were able to purchase a home for Zach and his family and they have relocated to Charlotte from Albany, N.Y. for better medical care and to be closer to the team.

In conjunction with the show, the Checkers will be hosting a viewing party and Fan Fest at the Pavilion at EpiCentre (210 East Trade Street, top floor) in Uptown Charlotte from 6:30 - 10 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10. There will be raffle prizes, giveaways and a special screening of E:60 at 7 p.m. in the Biergarten at EpiCentre. All ages are welcome.

In attendance will be Checkers players, staff members, CheckMates, Chubby and the Bennett family.

For more information on this free event, contact the Checkers’ office at 704-342-4423. For more information on E:60 and ESPN, visit www.ESPN.com. For more information on the Pavilion at EpiCentre, visit www.pavilionatepicentre.com.
