MLB thread: Trade deadline time

Meh, dropping a series on the road aint the end of the world. Been a long time since we've been in a position where we have a lead big enough you can just shrug off losing a series like this.

Ironic though that the only game we won was Tavarez's start, while neither Wake nor Schill had good outings.

Schilling looked horrible. He either looks great.....or lays an egg.

Like you said. He's either great or he sucks. He decided to be great tonight.

He usually follows a horrible outing with a great one, not sure what to expect in his next start. Beckett is back in tomorrow.

Clemens had a good outing today in AAA. Hope they bring him up for the weekend :D .

I think that goes with his age. Schill is not what he was in 04 before the ankle injury.

Nice lead of 11.5 over Balt and 13 over the team with the great pitching staff

LA is still tied with SD for the West lead which is not all bad.

Beckett didn't skip a beat, Youk's hitting streak improves to 22, Yanks lose again and the Dodgers owned Washington....it was a good night for MLB baseball.

Don't forget NYY gave up a straight steal of home (the most exciting play in baseball imo) in the process. Great to see Beckett back with a vengeance, and against a good lineup at that. Also of note, Clemens will not be debuting this weekend, they're saving him for Monday against CWS. Looks like they'll need him just to keep them out of the cellar, nevermind chasing the Sox.

Didn't see that steal, what happened? I really wanted to see Clemens this weekend against the Sox but I'm sure they weren't gonna throw him into that fire.

The Jays had runners on 1st & 3rd, 2 outs. Aaron Hill was the runner on 3rd. Basically what happened is Pettitte got caught staring down the runner on 1st for what seemed like an eternity, meanwhile Hill broke for the plate. Posada is screaming and waving to get Pettitte's attention, but Hill was almost there before Pettitte realized what was going on and fired to the plate, but Hill got in.

Yikes, what must the confidence meter be at in that locker room? Wonder if Johnny Damon has any regret.

On a completely different note, wierd seeing Trot in an Indians uniform.

Tsk...Tsk....Tsk, ARod's misbehaving again

Lets hope he misbehaves this weekend when the Sox can just about bury the team with the great pitching

if they sweep them.

Let's hope not, I like the entertainment ;)

Although the main thing is to win the series, man is it tempting to think about how we could land a knockout blow if we could somehow take all 3 again.

Game #1 Wake vs. Wang

Game #2 Mussina vs. Schilling

Game #3 Pettitte vs. Beckett

Papelbon should be available for at least 2 out of the 3, but if not Okidoki is just fine with me.

Don't get your hopes up too high, Sox fans...right around when the weather hits 90* is when the Sox start to choke. ;)
