warbird-1 Report post Posted June 21, 2007 Cy Tavarez strikes again. Lead's back up to double digits. Perhaps I'm being optimistic, but I'm starting to think the Yanks' hot streak has finally run its course and maybe now they'll settle down again.
cupkrazy Report post Posted June 21, 2007 Congratulations Top and War on the Sox's win last night. Tonight will break the series either way. Well CUPCRAZY, this one isn't looking too good for the Braves. I think its safe to say that Coco and the RedSox offense have finally woken up. 3 homeruns in two innings, and 7-0 through 3 innings is a good way to wake up. Umm...make that 4 homeruns. On a not-so-good note: http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/news/articl...sp&c_id=mlb I'm still in denial about last night's game. I went out with some friends for drinks after work. I came home, turned on the tube. Top of the third I see the score is 7 to 0 Sox. I said..."nah ESPN has made an error". I called a buddy and asked "What is the score". He says "It's on ESPN". I said "yea I know but they have the score all wrong, they have 7 to 0 on the screen and it is only the top of the third". He says "huh...that is the score". What a horrible game played by the Braves and a great game played by the Sox. I'm cutting my eye holes in my brown paper bag! The only good thing that did happen last night that helped us was the Mets and Phillies lost too.
warbird-1 Report post Posted June 21, 2007 Yeah it definitely was just our night. Hell even Timlin had a 1-2-3 inning, and that never happens anymore.
Guest Report post Posted June 21, 2007 So, do you think Schilling going on the DL opens the door for Lester? He pitched last night but I don't know how he did.

warbird-1 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Apparently Josh Bard can't catch a knuckleball, but he can hit one. Tonight sucked, but Beckett vs. Peavy tomorrow should be good.
Guest Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Apparently Josh Bard can't catch a knuckleball, but he can hit one. Tonight sucked, but Beckett vs. Peavy tomorrow should be good. Today was more like it as Beckett gets his 11th win. They've given themselves enough breathing room to have a stinker once in awhile. And I wouldn't really call it a stinker as much as running into some great pitching. I'm also very relieved that this game was not late tonight cause these west coast trips are exausting to keep up with.

warbird-1 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 Rumor which I somehow didn't hear of until just now: The Sox are in hot pursuit of Mark Buehrle Thoughts I've had myself or read elsewhere: - is Schilling more hurt than they're letting on? - CWS is going for prospects, but who? I'd be loathe to see us give up Ellsbury or Buchholz - might we be just driving up the price for the Yankees, namely trying to make them give up Hughes (not counting on that) Buehrle is an FA to be, and the other half of the rumor is the Sox have a multi-year offer on the table waiting for him. That would mean we'd have Beckett, DiceK, and Buehrle all tied up long term, and when you figure in Lester, one of Wake or Schilling would have to be out after the season. This is the first I've heard of this one too . What's up with the Yankees pitching? Clemens came in as a reliever today? I know they must have blown the entire bullpen with that marathon game yesterday but now Clemens won't be able to make his start? Edit: Just heard it on ESPN. Edit: Gabbard will get the start Tues over Lester. http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/news/article....sp&c_id=bos

warbird-1 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 The curious part about it is that if you made a list of what the Sox needs are, the need for another SP would probably get ranked just above the need for another DH. While its certainly true that you can never have enough pitching, the fact that the Sox have seemingly come out of nowhere in this would appear to lend credence to their having some impetus, namely Schilling's injury. I've read the Braves are also in on the Buehrle hunt, the rumor being that they're dangling Saltalamacchia.

Lugo doesn't show signs of coming out of whatever slump he's in and Alex Cora, although I love the guy, won't be able to carry this team the rest of the season and into the playoffs. I read that Pedroia was actually a SS for most of his career till coming to the Red Sox(at least I think it was him). I'd hate to move him now though since he's really carved himself a place at second base. But if your instinct is right about Schilling, Buerle would slide in quite nicely and still has quite a few years to play. This would make our rotation lethal for a few more years...... now, what to do about Timlin?

warbird-1 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 We do seem to be on a bad streak when it comes to acquiring SSs. At least with AGon you weren't expecting him to hit, but Lugo wasn't brought here to hit at the Mendoza line.
