I just caught a little bit of the CZE vs. USA game on NHL.com on my lunch break.  My first thought...THAT ICE IS HUGE!  I knew that the rink was a bigger size, but I didn't realize it was that big.  It really opens up the game.  USA up 2-0 as of now.

How many Canes' do we have at the WJC? The only ones I could find were:

Brett Pesce (USA) wasn't in the boxscore vs. Czech Rep.

Jaccob Slavin (USA) had 1G and was +2 vs. Czech Rep.

Elias Lindholm (SWE) wasn't in the boxscore vs. Switzerland

Eric Karlsson (SWE) was kneed by Mat Dumba in a tournament prep game and hasn't been back in the lineup

I think Pesce was cut from the USA squad (one of the last 3 to go).   I saw him listed when they were still 3 players over the limit, but not listed on the final roster . . .

It's interesting that the NHL didn't include Sweden in it's initial TV lineup.  I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they are one of the favorites (they beat Canada 3-0 in a prelim game).

I read that Sami Kapanen's son (Kasperi) was suppose to play for Finland and that he is a top prospect.

He's out with a shoulder injury. Wow, has time flown!

Nice to see both Lindholm and Karlsson get in on the boxscore today.

To me, the US squad looks faster than the Canadians, with better goaltending.  Wish I could see Russia, Sweden and Finland play.

Quit duck hunt in the am, then USA vs Canada, drive over to Raleigh, see Canes vs Montreal.  Should be a full Tuesday.

Slavin had an assist on the first goal vs. Canada. Lindholm with an assist vs. Russia

Lindholm and Forsberg with 4 points each in the quarterfinal win over Slovakia.

We need to trade for Forsberg and De La Rose at some point, that line (with Lindholm) is dominant. It'll never happen but man they look good together. With the USA out I'm pulling for Sweden/Lindholm.

Lindholm over 70% face-off percentage during tournament. Also tied for 6th in scoring (didn't play first game).

The Swedes use Lindholm as their first line center. He is on the first PP unit. He wears the "A." He's on the PK unit. He has played as the lone forward when short-handed in 5 on 3 situations. He takes most of the important draws.

Tells you what the Swedes think of him.

Can't wait to get him back. Wonder if he can make it back for the Buffalo game?

Was a great game. I was pulling for Lindholm/Sweden, unfortunately Lindholm and much of team Sweden played their worst game of the tourney. Thought they played tight, they had a lot of pressure on them. Not to take anything away from Finland though...

Congratulations to Team Finland.
