From the article:

"Popular hockey website Capgeek.com, an incredibly useful tool that tracks anything and everything related to hockey salaries and a tool used on a daily basis by the staff at THN, will cease operations according to the following statement on the homepage of their website:

Effective immediately, Jan. 3, 2015, CapGeek.com has permanently ceased operations. This sudden decision is made with a heavy heart and is due to the personal health of CapGeek.com founder and director Matthew Wuest. While this decision may raise many questions, it is requested that you respect Matthew’s privacy and wish for no media or purchase inquiries. Thank you for your co-operation and understanding at this difficult time."

That's a shame; what a great site that was. :(  Here's hoping for the best regarding the founder's health.

That message is just weird, hope he get's better if that's the case.

Many questions will be raised? No purchase inquiries?

Clearly someone else knows how to finagle the site to change the front page message so why not just hand the site off to that guy?

Whatever, nhlnumbers.com it is.

Sadly, the founder and operator has passed away.  Man, this really puts things in perspective.

On a personal note: a routine colonoscopy saved my life.  Please, don't delay the test if you are due!  However, it sounds like Mr. Wuest was a very young man, younger than the age of typical screening.  That is really tragic.

The Detroit Redwings are honoring Wuest by naming their Traverse City prospects tourney championship trophy after him.  Beyond CapGeek, seems he did a lot of work for the RedWings as well.
