DRAFT CONTEST 2016!! FINAL RESULTS!

Recommended Posts

ANNOUNCING THE SECOND ANNUAL HURRICANES MOCK DRAFT AND PROPOSITIONS CONTEST!!! HURRY! TIME IS SHORT! 2016 Version.

This contest will be slightly different this year to aim things a bit more to the Canes.

Winner gets...

Well Bragging Rights! :yippee::banana: And your name etched in the imaginary trophy! As last year's :winner:  ,

I have been bragging about it nearly every day of this past year :blahblah:  to anyone who would listen! :yahoo: !!!

OK, maybe not quite everyone, but some. O,K,  a few.....well one really.

Listen, it's hard to find prizes, but we'll work on it. We can't promise, but will update if any actual prizes become available.

The main thing is to have fun and try to be the King of the Draft (or Queen).

The goal:

Accumulate as many points as possible by picking the correct draft order 1-15, and #21, and answering the prop questions.

Extra points are awarded for getting our pick slots correct, and there are weighted points for some of the proposition questions, since some things are less likely and thus earn more points for going there.

A. Correctly pick the order of players taken 1-10, #13 and #21 (our second pick). 3 points each for getting #13 and #21 correct: even if we trade the pick, getting that slot correct gets you the points.

B. Answer the following prop questions for more points: please answer all 3 questions for max points:

1. Will the Hurricanes trade up in the draft? Yes or No? 2 points.

2. Will the Hurricanes trade down in the draft? Yes of No? 3 points for yes, 1 point for no.

3. Will the Hurricanes trade any pick at the draft for a player (ie: not another pick)? 1 point.

If you want to use this thread to make wild predictions: have at it!

OK simple now so play!

Submit picks by PM to remkin ASAP. Players are eligible up to the moment of the draft, but remember you can't get the points for props if they've already happened, so better get your picks in soon!!!!

I'll submit my picks to OBXer for transparency.

HURRY!!! :clapper:

Get picking!

OK, now we have a contest! Thanks for the picks. Still time. I'm sure a few of you are waiting, I plan to try to shut this down about 1-2 hours pre draft and post the picks before the draft.

So final picks due by Friday let's say 5 PM.

I will accept picks after 5 if I haven't posted everyone's picks yet.

Prop questions:  on trading up or down, do you mean only the Cane's first round picks or any picks?

No entry from realmdrakkie... i'm not very well adept at these things.  I'll just be a bystander and watch things come together.  Good luck to everyone playing!

I can tell you that I went way off the path, and focused on live round robin mocks, but I don't like a lot of mine....I need things to get really shaken up!

Jon Kerfoot was the only one to break the Matthews, Laine, Puljivari triad, so if Columbus goes Tkahchuk he will bolt into the lead early.

Remember some questions are weighted. Getting #13 and #21 right is 3 points each. And the prop questions are not evenly weighted either.

Good Luck and we are getting close so maybe see some in chat.

Johsonbobo66 coming in after the bell!

It's all for fun, so if you win you get informal bragging rights.

But formal bragging rights, all prizes and the crown and scepter go to someone from the list above. (There are no prizes or crown or scepter).

So, the early results are in, but trades up/down and for players can still happen at the draft, so those points are still in play.

After round one the results thusfar:

1. Rocheccw: 6 points. The only one who got one of our picks with Gauthier at #21.

2. remkin 5 points.

3. Manwolf 4 points

4. Lakelivin 4 points

5. Hag 3 points

6. Faulker 3 points

7 Jonkerfoot 3 points

8. Obxer 2 points

9. Min Ja Ben 2 points

10. Dinz 2 points

11. Caniac 1-1,  2 points

The questions were to keep some interest in the whole draft, so this list can still change. But any trades must happen during the draft.

Check your points. I definitely could have made a mistake.

My score looks right to me.

I guessed maybe a third-correct on the Puljujarvi thing. He did end up being drafted fourth, but not because he and Tkachuk swapped places. The pick of DuBois at #3 just started me on the downslide. Luke Kunin being picked as high as he was didn't help, either.

Ah, well. C'est la vie....

Final Results:

No trades up or down or all around, so...

The grand winner is...

rocheccw! :applaud: :applause: :woohoo: :winner:

Nailing the Gauthier pick got it done and held on through the props!

rocheccw, you may now don the crown and scepter (remkin places crown on roche's head) and commence with one year of bragging rights.

Final results:

1. rocheccw (9)

2. Lakelivin (7)

2. Manwolf ((7) (so very close to the triple win with two playoffs and this)

3. remkin (6)

3. Faulker (6)

4. OBXer (5)

4. Dinz (5)

4. JonKerfoot (5)

5. MinJaBen (4)

6. Hag (3)

7. Caniac 1-1 (2)

Thanks to all who played. This was kind of a wild one, but fun.

I'm in total shock!!!   :yippee:

This was a team win. I like to thank GMRF for taking Gauthier with the #21 pick, and for the first 20 teams picking for not taking him!!!

I really think that we got the steal of the first round at #21. Big kid with skill, speed, & a knack for scoring!!!

Thanks Rem for running the contest!
