LA Kings hockey club. Luc Robitaille has been named club President and will now oversee all hockey and business operations, and Rob Blake has been named Vice President and General Manager, and will direct all day to day hockey operations for the organization.

In addition, Beckerman today announced Dean Lombardi, who has served as Kings President and General Manager since 2006, and Darryl Sutter, who has served as the club's Head Coach since 2011, have been relieved of their current duties.

Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced  that Lindy Ruff will not return as head coach for the 2017-18 season and the organization will immediately begin the process of hiring a new head coach. Ruff earned a record of 34-37-11 for 79 points as head coach with Dallas this season.

That Florida situation was just weird.  No surprise there.

  1. Florida should just re-hire Gallant...with Tallon throwing Rowe under the bus for how he handled Gallant's firing.  That had to be the most despicable way of firing a coach I've ever seen.  Gallant was a good fit with that team, but they really did overachieve last season.
  2. Lindy Ruff will be the first of the fires to be re-hired, with Sutter a close 2nd.  I think Sutter goes to Vegas or Dallas.
  3. Vancouver shouldn't have hired Desjardins in the first place...they got exactly what they deserved when they screwed up their goalie situation with those boneheaded trades and decided to throw all their money at the Sedins.

Good on Gallant.  I was there the night he got dumped on the curb.  What a way to treat an employee.

Spector's Hockey- Rising star Jack Eichel was openly critical of the club’s performance, slamming several teammates for their sub-par play in a season-ending interview with reporters.

PK should copy/paste/save the Sabres firing announcement. Will come in handy with a few name swaps if Canes underachieve and miss the playoffs next season.

There is still time to go buy stock in your favorite pitchforks and torches company.

Oh boy...looks like a prima donna in the making up in Buffalo.  Seriously, I don't care how talented you are, you keep your chastising behind closed doors.

Bylsma will get picked up pretty quickly...even though he won a cup in 09 with players who practically coached themselves.

Still, this was a stupid move on Buffalo's part, all to cater to a 20-year-old.

Lehner does it and the general consensus on social media is that he's the voice of reasoning and the boys needed to hear it. Eichel does it and it's a total 180.

Eichel also (strongly rumored) said on the radio that he won't re-sign with Buffalo if Bylsma remains their coach...of course, he came out and denied that yesterday, but there's some serious smoke with that rumor.  On top of that, when Murray came out and threw a public hissy fit two years ago about not getting the #1 pick and getting to snag McDavid, that sealed his fate with any chance of having a working relationship with Eichel.

Either way, the perception is that this franchise is run by a 20-year-old right now.

It kind of goes both ways, though.  I mean they pretty much let Eichel and the hockey community at large know from day one that he wasn't the guy they wanted.  I figure it would be hard to not be at least a tiny bit bitter over that.

Ask any hardcore Buffalo fan.  If there is any way possible to screw up a situation, they will find a way to accomplish it.

Yah, THAT'S gonna work out really well.  Kings had their time in the sun...but I think they're about to nosedive with that duo.

Really Vancouver, with glut of decent NHL coaches available, THAT is who you choose?  Enjoy mediocrity!

Tops in Conference?  109 points?  Not enough if you don't get a deep run.  Blackhawks in firing mode:

- Assistant coach (PK specialty) Mike Kitchen.  This was Q's buddy, so it is pretty meaningful.

- AHL coach Ted Dent.  Apparently he tweeted some stuff about Bowman's moves that affected his team.  Bowman NOT happy.  Oh, and there's missing the playoffs.  I mean, sheesh, even Charlotte (Charlotte!) made the playoffs.
