NHL Salary Cap reported to remain the same

Recommended Posts

"There will be no increase in the salary cap for the 2017-2018 National Hockey League season, reports The New York Post's Larry Brooks.  Sources tell Brooks that the National Hockey League Players' Association isn't prepared to activate the escalator for next season, leaving the cap at close to $73 million (USD)."

That's got to be good news for the Canes as we try to take advantage of other teams Cap woes and expansion draft protection limits.

I would think so. Now lets see what cap strapped teams are willing to do to move some of those unwanted contracts

Funny you should say "Cap" woes. The Caps are on record as saying they needed the salary cap to go up at least $4million to keep TJ Oshie. If true, he basically just hit the market. He'd look very good in the sightless eye.

Well, sit back and enjoy folks, because there's going to be a few sweet deals coming down the line before the expansion draft as the cap-strained teams will look to offload for whatever they can get to avoid losing to Vegas for zilch!
