Charlotte Checkers 2017/18

Recommended Posts

Been high on Foegele for a while. He passes the eyeball test too. Didn't seem him breaking out this much this soon though.

I call up Wallmark and Zykov first though just because Foegele is a bit younger, but Foegele does bring an all around game and some grit.

The Checkers did win last night.  Foegle continues his point push.  2 goals and 1 assist.  Almost up to a PPG player. Ned got a shutout.

Wallmark seems to be their good luck charm. They went 1-5 without him.  But have a great record with him.

That is crazy weird.  Never heard of anything like this.

The people here won't be able to move anyway.  Bellies all over town will be full of milk sandwiches.

I don't care who you are that's funny right there...

Warren Foegele has been added to the AHL All Star Roster for the Atlantic Division.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League today announced the following changes to the playing rosters for the 2018 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Turning Stone Resort Casino, to be held January 28-29 in Utica, N.Y.

Charlotte Checkers forward Warren Foegele, Bridgeport Sound Tigers defenseman Mitchell Vande Sompel and Bridgeport goaltender Christopher Gibson have been added to the Atlantic Division roster; Toronto Marlies defenseman Justin Holl has been added to the North Division roster; Manitoba Moose forward Mason Appleton has been added to the Central Division roster; and Tucson Roadrunners defenseman Kyle Capobianco has been added to the Pacific Division roster.

These six players replace Bridgeport’s Tanner Fritz and Sebastian Aho, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s Casey DeSmith, Toronto’s Travis Dermott, Manitoba’s Jack Roslovic and San Antonio’s Jordan Schmaltz, who will be unavailable for the event.

Yeah this makes me grin from ear to ear.

Foegele is the real deal. He and Zykov have earned a serious shot in the NHL. But Foegele, who is still a rookie in the AHL can still simmer, but eventually he'll be up here. He's that gritty winger who can score that we've been pining for. He brings what McGinn brings plus more size and more goals and a touch more skill.

Yes Foegele is a rookie but at 21 his contract doesn’t slide.

I'm more talking about the impressiveness of the performance. Hit the ground running. No trouble adjusting to the AHL from Junior hockey.

I was referring to your part about him staying and simmering.  He can simmer but it cost us all the same.  As far as call ups I let Kuokkanen simmer.  He has struggled since the U20 tournament and he is contract slide eligible.  No one else fits that bill in Charlotte.

Yeah, I'm thinking pure development path. But given how he's playing with ease in the AHL, what the heck. I know I'd like to see him.
