2018 Canes All Star Representative?

But enough for 4 teams so 44 total players?  31 teams so 13 extras.  Not necessarily spread even between conferences?

Aho and TT are tied for #52 in the league at forward.  Hanafin tied for #23 league wide.

It's by Division.  So our forwards are competing for one of 6 spots against:

Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals (captain)

Claude Giroux, Philadelphia Flyers

Taylor Hall, New Jersey Devils

John Tavares, New York Islanders

Phil Kessel, Pittsburgh Penguins

Josh Bailey, New York Islanders

Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins

Jakub Voracek, Philadelphia Flyers

Anders Lee, New York Islanders

Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh Penguins

Makes you get why many are predicting that the Canes rep will be a defenseman.

Tough to crack that lineup.  I still say it's going to be Faulk.  Plenty of players become recurring All-Stars even when they have down years - i can't imagine the league pays enough attention or has the originality to break the Faulk Chain.

I dunno why I did this to myself but if you go by points alone as your sole decision maker for the ASG, the metro would have to field a full 12 man forward corps just to get Aho on the 4th line.

Then, if you really like feeling like crap only Skinner and TT make the JV team.

Our best center clocks in at the 3rd string of All-Star teams.

Oh and again this is just for our little 8 team division.

It really makes sense why we're battling for our playoff lives.

I hope you are wrong.  We all agree he doesn't come close to deserving the nod.  But it IS the All Star game.

At the half way point, It's Aho who should get the nod. On pace for 28 goals and 40 assists for 68points. He's a minus one which is respectable. And he could do well in the skills competitions. Not sure Slavin is having an all star year but has def had some impressive games.  Skinner just can't go with a  -19.  And Faulk I hope is not being considered.

Not trying to poke and prod, but Faulk wasn't much better than -19 when he went, was he?  That said, Skinner's +/- is awful.  I thought he looked more defensively-responsible the past couple years and his +/- bore that out, but he's back to not backchecking often which is certainly hurting.  I'm with you on your comment in the other thread - he really needs to bust out of this slump and get hot.  He's definitely not looking like an All-Star right now.

Hell, I’m wondering how he won the Calder...cause that’s been about it for career highlights with us thus far.

Crosby claims he isn't even thinking about the ASG because he doesn't feel his 43 points in 44 games has been all-star worthy..................

By process of elimination it almost has to be either Hanifin or Slavin.

We don't have a forward who can rightfully crack that list up there. And goalie? :coollaugh:.

Hanifin has twice as many points as Faulk and is -7 to Faulk's -10. Slavin is our shut down guy and constantly referred to as our best D man, but the All Star game is about offense. And while Slavin is our best D man, he is not having his best year.

It is telling that we cannot muster up one legitimate All Star.

I was thinking the same thing.

I get your point but I think Aho is an All-Star even if it is still cooking.

Hanifin's agent likes this.

After I got done laughing that Hanifin's an all-star that was my next thought.

Maybe this should go to "former Canes" section: E Staal and all-star again.

Not surprisingly, no Cane made the injury replacement list.  Hanafin or bust.

Hanifin’s dad????  Again if they try to use this as a bargaining chip, just show last nights Johnson goal as the counter balance.

I'm happy for Hanifin. Can't help but feel a touch vindicated sticking up for him the last couple of years. BUT, yeah, not sure this is the best thing overall. Maybe, maybe he gets confidence, which is always important, but while I think his game is coming on, and I easily see him with more ASG appearances, it seems a little premature in his development arc. Hope he stays grounded, especially when it comes to the contract negotiation.

I guess Francis could say something to the effect of, "well look, Faulk was the guy 3 years running, just to put in in perspective, so don't get too far over your skiis there young Noah. It's not like you beat out Crosby."
