Wow, that could be deceptive??

I heard the other night that our black jerseys are done for this year. They are my favorite!

Interesting, kind of like a zebra's stripes that confuse predators?  But I'd have thought that the white stripes would zig the opposite direction so as to present the image of an open 5 hole that really isn't there when he drops into a butterfly.

I wonder if anyone has designed pads specifically to confuse shooters?  The hockey equivalent of the latest hunting/ military camouflage?

Question, Is de Haan's game that much better than Fleury's? Fleury has seemed to be holding his own to my eyes.

I'm not a Fleury fan personally.  He'll be beaten out by Bean is short order, from what I'm seeing.  Fleury could only hope to be CDH.

Gleason scored with a fishbowl on his face.  I'm not convinced the effect of the full protection will affect his vision over a normal visor.  Williams wore it for a couple of games.  Rather have De Haan with a fishbowl.

Bunch of Jerks

I recognize those two jerks in the center and left on the photo with the reversed gloves.  But that man on the right, when did Abe Lincoln join the Canes?

Better. Maybe not.  More consistent/ reliable. Probably.

I hope we keep Fleury. He D game is solid.  Guys with solid defensive games will allow the forwards to take more risks for better shots.

It will be interesting to see what we do with Bean.  He is doing well in the AHL.

It probably wont be a popular opinion but run 7 defenders with one being Bean. He’ll get minutes as a defender but be a PP specialist.  Just to get him used to the NHL game.

Of all the times for me to not know anything about Photoshop.

I'm sure visors have reduced eye injuries overall, but this year in particular at least for our guys they seem more like a placebo then an effective piece of equipment.

From what I understand RB started the reversed gloves look in the photo sessions during his playing days while Captain.

Yup, I'd have to tear the house apart to see if Ronnie was that much fun I doubt he was. Thought Googling all Hurricanes teams photo would be easier then it was.

However, for Photoshop....I wanna put a top hat on J Staal to finish off the Abe Lincoln look.

What has happened to teams like TB in the playoffs in the past is a different scenario when playoff officiating begins.  Fewer power plays... clutching and grabbing and general increase of physicality changes the entire dynamic.  It remains to be seen if they will continue to be dominant in the changing conditions.

I tried this too.  Seems like the photos should be way easier to find than they are.

IMO yes. Fluery hasn't been bad and you hope that he can and it appears he can play a game that won;t hurt us. He doesn't have to be spectacular only steady. De Hann seems to make his paired partner better who ever he is skating with. His presence in the lineup shouldn't be underestimated.

On Fleury, IMO he needs regular starts. He has not had enough NHL starts to assess him fully. DeHaan though, is just plain good a what he does.

On the scoreboard, the Montreal-Philly game is an interesting one, since one team is rising and the other falling. As much as I project Montreal to continue the fall, I have to route for the defeat of the team with points. So I'm going for one more Philly win. As mentioned, three point games don't help.

Seems like we rarely go into OT, but speaking of Tampa already clinching the President's cup, they have only 4 OT losses in 73 outings.

Well he had 67 starts last season and didn't exactly set the ice on fire. That isn't to say he isn't NHL caliber but more to his age and learning curve. As a number one pick I think he hasn't met expectations. Having said that I'm glad we have him. He has proven he can play at the NHL level and not hurt the team when called on. Still with younger Dmen knocking it is up to him to grab a spot. So far I haven't seen a dominance from him that would make him a clear choice to be part of our future.

As we have learned Dmen take time to develop. He still has time to earn his ice.

I'm pretty sure I have a team photo "pre-Rod" with Jeff Brown and someone else (Sean HIll?) doing it.....I think. But either way, hockey players have been reversing gloves in team photos since they started wearing gloves! Haha! And it's still funny for some reason! Go Canes!

I've heard prior NHL D men say it took them up to their 4th full season to feel like they "got it" at the NHL level, or around 200 games. Fleury has one relatively full season where he played the 67, but it was also a lot of press box that year.

Also, Fleury's 67 game season were his first, rookie 67. I think there are a lot of very good NHL D men that would be gone if they were judged on their first 67 games.

Hanifin had 160 games after two seasons, when we were still saying he was underdeveloped, and 239 games when we traded him.

TVR has 300 games. Ironically he has 67 starts THIS year.

There are exceptions, but the rule is D men need NHL ice time to get their act together, and it's really hard for us fans to factor that in.
