I liked what i saw of him on the tube in the Canes preseason, but he hasn't impressed me at all in person with the Checkers.  Keep on keeping on.

Signings like that are almost always worth a try. They don't always work out.

Checkers had a rough 1st and Ned didn’t make stops.  Ned was pulled in the 1st after giving up 3.

Darling came in and gave one in the first as well.

It was a veteran showing on offense today.  Maenalenan scored a shorty in the 1st.

Down 4-1 after one.  McKegg had two and Natasuik scored over the last 2 periods to force OT. Yes Darling went 2 consecutive periods with no goals allowed.

Checkers lost in OT, 5-4.

Note: This was Natasuik’s first goal as a checker since being called up from Florida.  Also only his 5 ever in 67 AHL games, which is over 6 seasons.

Checkers Bring Back Bobby Sanguinetti On AHL Deal by Nicholas Niedzielski

Quote

The 30-year-old Sanguinetti, who represented the United States at the 2018 Winter Olympics, spent each of the last two seasons in Switzerland’s top league, winning a championship in 2016-17 and leading all league defensemen with 11 goals last season.

Woa, talk about a blast from the past. Wonder if Ryan Bayda is still available.

Probably playing in the DEL, at least that’s where he was when I was stationed in Germany

Carrick and Kuok to the AHL All-Star game.  And while our Aho's going to the NHL ASG, the other Sebastian Aho is going to the AHL ASG as well, though of course that doesn't pertain to us.

Checkers won 4-1 last night. Ned stopped 30 of 31.Checkers only dressed 19 last night due to the McKegg emergency call up.  With 11 forwards they still put up a good show. No Fleury last night.

Necas, Kuokkanen, and Fleury added to the lineup.  Darling in net. Going with 11 forwards and 7 defenders tonight. I see what you did there Mike with Darling in net.

Yep.  Didn’t see it to know if he was hung to dry or didn’t make a regular stop.

As bad as Darling was, the kid who started for Belleville, Jake Paterson, was worse.

Two goals on the first two shots he faced (never mind that the two were four minutes apart), and he's gone before the game's five minutes old....

Ned has a 34 save shutout today!

Necas had another G and A!  The kid is really gaining confidence.

Geekie & Gauthier scored again.

Bean had 2 assists.

PS. Does anyone score more often than Necas while falling down?

Holy Cow the Checkers are simply dominating the AHL.

27-8-3. Are you serious? 57 points. The next closest team in the league has 48 points.

This can't be bad.

to add to it Charlotte has one scorer in the top 20 of AHL scoring even with a .750 point percentage.  Now we have had a bunch of callups so that hurts the chance.

Yet a team like Chicago Wolves has 5 top 20 scorers with a .622 P%

It is a real team effort for the Checkers.  That bodes well for sustained success because one call up or one injury isn't going to change their entire trajectory.

Stats so far. Concentrate on Necas' stats.  Nothing in the first 9 games and then 26 in 19 games.  he has scored 1G and 1A assists in both games back from the WJC.
