NHL Research Sites

Recommended Posts

What are your favorite sites to gather information on the Canes or the NHL in general? Maybe pitch a few things your site does that others don't?

GoCanes specifically I want your heat chart shot website. :D

I figure we've got a lot of resources amongst ourselves that not everyone knows about.

Running list of links with better detail see below:

The website is Natural Stat trick. It allows you to pull advanced stats like Corsi, Fenwick, HD Chances, etc by game, with certain linemates, and others.  You can go into each game to get the unblocked shot heat charts, who each player played with, who the opposition sent out when a team had a certain member on the ice, etc.  Its pretty cool.  You can make some serious inferences about the game plans of the two teams.

For basic advanced stats, hockey-reference.com is a good site.

I utilize dailyfaceoff.com before each game to get an idea of how players are used on other teams.  You get line combinations, defensive pairings, goalies, and powerplay and penalty kill units.  I find it very helpful if you are into what the other team is bringing.

I also like and use Natural Stat Trick and hockey-reference.com [ which have already been mentioned].
