Known quirkiness of goalies makes me very uneasy to bet against any of them (oh maybe with the exception of one of our recent ones), thus I take no comfort in Schneider's record unless we are ahead 5-0?

And then there were 18...

18 teams still alive, we're one of them, it's April 4th and we're playing meaningful hockey, it's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

There've been so many big games this year. But it could be none bigger than this one. IF we get this and get a loss from Montreal tonight, or Columbus tomorrow....oh yes. The best thing is to just win out, but a win tonight gives us so many ways to get in.

New Jersey is 10-23-3 on the road, and with no Taylor Hall they are a team without top tier offensive talent. Their top producer is Kyle Palmeri with 50 points. Nico Hischer is a good example of how it can take top guys a couple of years to get their NHL points production rolling. He's the number one overall from two years ago and on about a 20 goal pace if accounting for injuries. We draw Schneider, who is battling to stay above the .900 line.

But, they do have 10 wins on the road, and they are, as teams tend to be this time of year, dangerous in a loose way. Further they have the #4 PK and #6 in goals against. Yet they are the #29 team in the league. Gotta score in the NHL. Still, they have nothing to lose, and thusly could be dangerous.

OK, hockey is a game with a lot of chance built in, so concern is absolutely real, any given day and all that, but to have to get a win right now, this is set up for us about as well as it could be. Need to keep with our game, and close this deal.

I'll be working so watching far after it's over. Bring it home!

That is encouraging, but before you put the cart before the horse, don't forget that the Canes record against the Devils this season is 1-2.  For their part, I hope that the players use that record to come out and play like it will take their best game of the year to seal the deal.

I have mixed feelings about Svech on the third line. It does make it harder for him to score, but lately he's been playing so well that he does create chances from there, and Ferland simply does not, but does on the higher line. We have three somewhat dangerous lines with Svech on the third.

Put the FAT line back together, with

Foegele-Wallmark-Nino

McGinn-McKegg-Marty

And how long has that been? There’s a huge reason we been out of the playoffs for a fricken decade. It needs to end now!!!
