Worked for the NFL.

What a complication, though.  Conditional picks could be real tricky.  There are quite a few that cite playoff performance as a condition.  How will that work?  Unknown.  "Not optimal."

With our luck the Pens will get #1 and end up going deep in the playoffs.

TBH most young guys would probably prefer Chicago versus Charlotte.

Not really. Wolves play in Rockford 90 miles from Chicago. Rockford is more burned out than vibrant. Given their sched they probably don’t get into the city unless coach gives them a 72.

The Wolves play at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, right across the Interstate from O'Hare.

There is a casino right there, and downtown is a short trip away.  You can find decent apartments in the area to avoid extreme high cost of living.

Well here's progress on the new practice facility.

Somewhat shocked you wouldn't have yourself a solid glass 2nd floor mezzanine to watch from the top down. I see it seems to exist in some windows, but for an NHL facility i'd of made that a solid glass wall. Hillsborough's for instance is pretty sweet, you can run on the tredmill and watch youth games below you.

Isn't it more of a facility sometimes used by the NHL?

Gone are the days early on at the IcePlex where you'd share locker rooms with the players while getting ready for lunch time stick and puck......Keith Primeau walking down the hall past me and my wife wearing nothing but a towel comes to mind....as well as skating stick and puck with Sean Hill and Jeff Brown.... Haha! Good times!

It depends on whether or not Kuokkanen ends up doing anything much in the NHL. Even then, would he have made it onto this team? He's got Geekie in front of him and Suzuki coming up from juniors. I had some hope for the guy, but he seemed to just not really take that next step. He was taken in the 2016 draft (Bean and Goat). So this would be his prime year to make the NHL. I guess we'll see. I don't think he had much chance of making the Canes either way.

Depending on what happens as far as playoffs, at least we will probably keep all of our draft picks.

As far as I understand it, Kuokkanen is a good player but didn’t match the current RBA playing style. He is a hold the puck and let the play develop kind of guy. Not a push the pace, vertical pass kind of guy.  Had Peters still been the coach the last 2 seasons he may have seen NHL ice. Staal was a fan of his.

I think he could be an additional scoring asset on a team.  His max is probably 30-35 points, which we have a ton of.

Wonder if Center Ice will close? My daughter was a figure skater for 10 years and used to skate there when it was the Rec Zone quite a bit. It was a dump, but it did have a sheet of ice.

Hopefully not.   Sometimes the events and usage follow the building.  My sport is primarily swimming.  For the longest time Raleigh-Durham had very limited 50 meter lanes.  And then in the span of 15 years, it went from 1 facility to 3, with work currently building to 4.  The population grew and programs followed.

I'm hoping the same goes for skate facilities.   However, as these are primarily private, there's huge danger that the virus will take them out.

Can we just say that we can't foresee a pandemic shutting down the league?

I will leave that up to you and cancel the "we". As SD has intimated, crystal ball availability was limited at best.

He took 16+ minutes to cover something he could’ve done effectively in 5 or less, but some interesting nuggets in there.  One is the reminder of what a ridiculously sweetheart TV deal the NBA has.  With the pandemic shutdown, NHL is in pickle with both the CBA and TV contract expiring the same year—doesn’t seem like good life cycle timing there Mr. Bettman.

I'm not sure what the nhl is planning to do in the near future .   tv deals have always been  a problem money wise   of there just not being enough .   It saddens me to see how little in comparison  the other leagues  the nhl gets .  but that is also attributed to  how little viewership it gets as well .     and that could be  things from people not knowing the  rules or  it being hard for them to see the puck  ,  to  participation  of it being costly .   or  just in general low scoring .    these are factors i've heard other people  express in regards to hockey .   and they do hold their merit .

i fear the day that   hockey possibly  dies .  i hope that never happens .

I think Canada is mostly afraid of an influx of U.S. residents wanting to vacation up there and bringing all of our corona virus with us. Letting a few hockey players slip through is not a big deal to them.

Listening to some more speculation on Sirus XM NHL today, apparently Bettman met with the PM of Canada. The guys talking thought that the border would not be a problem and it sounds like they really want to make one of the hubs in Canada. Seems like it would complicate things to me, but who knows?
