Thank goodness Pedroia blew the no hitter for Lackey. I feel kinda bad because I love to watch a pitcher get a no hitter but not against the Red Sox and NOT in Fenway Park!!!!

Angels look very good right now.....yikes.

I was hoping the real LA team got him :P (Just kidding the Angels are coached by a class act iMO)

The Angels are scary good but to temper things just a bit. I remember one year the Oakland As

won 20 games in a row and did not even make the World Series.

It is still Wide open for the AL East, Central and Wild Card.

Unless a 1978 Red Sox or 2007 Mets happens to the Angels they

will win the West and rightfully so.

The NL is still wide open as well and I am just glad my new adopted team

the Cubs are up by 3 games. This is personal for my uncle. A fan for over 40 years

as he deserves a World Series win. He is the nicest man in the world

and it would make me extremely happen to see the third long curse

in baseball be ended in the last 5 years.

I would be very conflicted seeing the Cubs vs Dodgers or Cubs vs Sox. I would not be able to lose IMO.

I was kinda rooting for Lackey because I respect the history of the sport.

The Sox were going to lose anyways.

They flashed the last no hitter vs the Sox.

It was Chris Bosio of the Mariners. Bosio was a stiff lol.

and the manager of the Sox in 1993. Butch Hobson. Boy have times

changed in Beantown in 15 years.

I thought Molina was doing a great job but I guess they wanted more insurance. So with Joba starting and Farnsworth gone, who's pitching the eighth?

Marte probably or Ramirez
I thought Marte was a brought in as a left handed specialist? Oh well, if he can pitch a inning, why not.

Teixiera to the Angels for Casey Kotchman and Double-A righthander Stephen Marek

Barring major moves by any of the other contenders, I think Anaheim just became the favorite in the AL, if they weren't already.

Mr. GSBG and I heard about that deal while we were driving home from the Santa Ana Zoo yesterday afternoon. Even though the Angels aren't our favorite baseball club, we're still pleased whenever they do well.

(Note: This deal was the second ground-shaking event yesterdayr for Angel fans in SoCal. The first: a 5.4 earthquake that scared the tar out of me and fellow Orange Countians, since the epicenter was only about 15 miles away.)

Manny to the Marlins? In return, prospect Mike Stanton,Josh Willingham and/or Jeremy Hermida.

Jeremy Hermida would then be traded to the Pirates for Jason Bay. Florida has plenty of room with $ and Manny's permanent home is in Florida.

Hmmm....Im thinking here...Intriguing.

Update:

ESPN's Jayson Stark says the Red Sox are seeking Jeremy Hermida, Ryan Tucker and Mike Stanton from the Marlins for Manny Ramirez.

Boston would presumably be paying all of Manny's salary in such a deal, but that's still a high price for the Marlins to pay. Tucker and Stanton are both among the club's top-five prospects.

I would love to have Jason Bay, he's locked up for a couple more years at a decent price. The Braves will probably get him though.

I'd actually be okay with that trade. Stanton is only in low A right now, but that guy looks like he could be a stud. And Tucker's been good all year for the Mudcats and has already been in the bigs this year.

Well, this is about as ugly as it gets. Not to take anything away from the Angels but my son's little league team could have beat the Red Sox tonight. It wouldnt have mattered who they were playing because they completely beat themselves and four errors prove their heads werent in the game. Im not in that locker room but based on the way the Sox are playing, the way they're all talking in the media and the body language on the field, the Manny saga has really taken its toll and created some real problems in the club house.

I dont think its worth keeping him around anymore because even if he plays, he cant be counted on to play to the best of his ability every game. Everyone on that team, from the owners, the coaching staff and to the players seem mentally spent and defeated by the drama. I could be reading into it but the wheels have really seemed to fall off in the last week, when coincidentally this whole Manny saga came to a head.

Unless we're getting duped by the media, Manny has already moved on so its time to remove the cancer and try to salvage the rest of the season.

Here's the latest:

John Perotto reports that discussions on a three-way trade between the Red Sox, Marlins and Pirates could also include Jack Wilson and John Grabow.

Manny Ramirez to Florida, Jason Bay to Boston and Jeremy Hermida to Pittsburgh would be the foundation of the deal.

If this goes through, management really wants Manny gone because they're willing to pay his salary and give up 2 prospects just to be done with him:

Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus says the Red Sox, Pirates and Marlins have agreed to a three-team Manny Ramirez deal, pending Ramirez waiving his no-trade clause and league approval.

Carroll, not normally one of our preferred sources, has the Red Sox getting Jason Bay and John Grabow; the Marlins acquiring Ramirez, cash and a prospect from the Red Sox and the Pirates picking up Jeremy Hermida, two prospects from the Marlins and one from Boston.

Can't disagree with that assessment TSA. They're all out of sorts right now. This Manny saga has to come to its conclusion tomorrow.

People keep saying we're a better team with Manny than without him, and I used to agree with that, but with the way things are heading at the moment, something has to change. I remember when Nomar was traded and that seemed to allow everyone to take a breath of fresh air. Well, this Manny saga has gotten 10x worse than the Nomar saga of '04, and this team is suffocating because of it. He has to go.

No kidding, this is way worse than the Nomar deal. His bat is going to be tough to replace but his drama wont be missed.

If feel so bad for Tito and what he has to deal with.

This is addition by subtraction. Getting rid of the crybaby Ramirez

hopefully jump starts this team.

They just need to play to their capabilities and not worry about

baby Ramriez. He is such a jerk and and tore this team apart this

season and I WILL never forgive him. Not that he was ever my favorite anyways

I lost respect for him in September 2001 when he took the right turn out of the

batters box on a groundout to the pitcher. What a loser he is.

I hope he goes 0 for 55 or gets his mysterious "groin pull" for his new

team. Good Riddance

Deal is going down to the wire... Pirates aren't happy about the players they're getting in return. Should be interesting...

C23 I like Posada and Jeter way better than Manny the crybaby.

I respect players that respect the game, not make a mockery of is

like Manny.

Olney on Sportscenter still saying it's unlikely due to so many parts being involved.

It's gotta happen in some form though. Please. Manny has to go.

Manny is the main reason why I hated the Sox. Him and Curt Schilling (the player, not the person off the field)

maybe getting rid of Manny can help cure you of that ;) jk I know

I used to hate the Yanks as a kid with stupd Billy Martin and Pinella

breaking my heart seeing the Jerry Remy ball in bright sunlight in 78.

Now I respect the best organization in history. Still hate Paul Oniell though lol.
