These 10:00pm west coast starts are killing me...and apparently their killing them too.

Thank goodness the west coast debacle is over. I feel bad for Wake who pitched a great game but had no run support.

Looks like we get Masterson again if DiceK cant make his next start and although I like Sean Casey, we really need Youk back in the line up.

Good article on the Rays being "for real" by a blogger from the Boston Globe:

FYI for all local Red Sox fans

Clay Bucholtz is on the mound for the Pawtucket Red Sox tonight playing the Durham Bulls. There are a few tickets still available (as of 2:0pm) but they're lawn only. Fireworks following the game (for those with kids).

Hopefully I'll see ya there... :)

From Dirtdogs.com:

It's uncertain whether he'll be placed on the active roster for the series versus the Orioles, because his status depends on whether Daisuke Matsuzaka lands on the disabled list. Bailey had a brief stint with the Red Sox last season and has hit .322/.421/.649 with 16 homers in 48 games at Triple-A this year.

Anyone know anything about this kid? Does this mean Youk will still be out longer?

Today is Manny's birthday, hit the 500th tonight!

I really love what Manny is doing with the ball. The guy who caught it just gave it back to him (way it should be done) and Manny is putting the ball up for auction and donating the proceeds to a hospital in Boston. Go MANRAM!!

The apocalypse is coming. Big Papi is out for at least 4 weeks, possibly the year....................let that sink in for a minute.......also Oki blew the game in the 8th Inning tonight against the Os.

http://bostondirtdogs.com/

If Ortiz is out for the year then we have a few options:

1) Chris Carter (1B, LF, DH) prospect is currently tearing it up in the minors at AAA. As is Brandon Moss (Outfield, DH, 1B).

2) With our deep farm we can try to trade for someone to fill the hole for the season.

Thank goodness that Manny is starting to heat up, as are Lowell and Drew. Manny needs to put up 100+ RBIs this season, Lowell needs to put up numbers close to last season (adjusted due to his injury) and even though JD is starting to hit close to .300, we need him to start producing some HRs. Also we need Dice back and Beckett needs to back to his dominance quickly. I want Coco gone quickly for some one to help shore up the back end of the 'pen, and then we can call up one or two of Moss/Kielty/Carter.

EDIT: More bad news, for those who watch the Sox on NESN, Hazel mae is leaving at the end of June. Dark times are ahead men, dark times. ;)

Keeping Coco around is more important now. If Manny plays DH, Ellsbury and Coco can cover Left and Center. Add Moss back into the line up for an occasional day off or rest and the DH dilemma is somewhat resolved.

I look at Coco and I just don't see him doing anything but hurting the lineup right now. I really think that Moss/Kielty/Carter would add much more value to the team offensively. Also even with Ortiz out, we need someone to help the pen get some much need outs (who knows, Hansen looked good last time out).

Moss was very good before he got sick. Is Kielty still available for signing? And has Carter seen any Major league time yet?

I understand why you'd rather trade Coco but Id be much more comfortable with established MLB players trying to replace some of Papi's production by committee. Especially players that can add defensively too.

Kielty is acutally in the Sox' minor leagues right now. He was hurt for awhile after the season started but I read on the redsox.com message boards that he's back now. Carter hasn't seen any ML time, but he and Moss have been mashing the ball at AAA and he is one of the top hitters in the minors for the Sox. The main reason I still want Coco traded is because we still have a big need in the back end of the pen with Delcarmen's up and down season so far.

Wow, you guys have this all figured out. Anyway you guys can help figure out the Yanks???:blink::blink:

Sorry, but we can only deal with one disaster at a time ;) .

I totally agree that the pen needs some help and Coco may be the answer, but I have a feeling that if he could have been traded for some immediate help, he would already have been.

At least the Sox have enough depth that they have some time to work this out. Maybe they can bring Carter up to see wht he can do. Meanwhile, looks like Justin Masterson will have another go at it tomorrow.

C23, Joba gets his first start tomorrow? Of all pitchers to start against, Roy Halladay? :o

Not too worried about it. I'm not expecting greatness or anything. Hoping for a good outing, expecting some runs to be given up, and a loss too of course, since that seems to be the "in" thing now. :)

You're psychic:

The Providence Journal reports that the Red Sox will call up Chris Carter from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Acquired in the Wily Mo Pena trade, the 25-year-old Carter will take the roster spot of David Ortiz. He's hitting .316 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI in 56 games at Triple-A. It's unclear how the Red Sox plan to use him, but his poor fielding makes him best suited for DH duties.

First Tina, now Hazel? Actually Heidi has been a much improved upgrade to Tina. She actually knows someting about baseball.
