Who will wear what number?

Recommended Posts

Melichar will wear #5

Get it?

:lol::lol::lol:

Hey I was clueless too until I read Ryan's post about it being Kaberle's.

So to Melichar wearing #5-----------YES, YES, YES!!! Please say it will be so.

Leighton wore #49. I agree with your other predictions.

Also what number will Sutter wear now that Samsonov has 14?

I wondered that too. Before we got Ruttu, I considered 15 as I saw he had worn that before. But now I might even guess 16... can't be 10-15, so why not 16?! :P

45 should be retired to a special are of the basement (Area 51).

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHH LMAO!!! :lol::lol::lol:

sorry this is off topic but didn't think it should have a thread of it's own.

I'm just glad Cole will keep #26.

Do you mean as in the Canes aren't going to reissue the number? I really don't think that is the case, but I wholly doubt someone is crazy enough to wear that number next year. There will be another #26 on this team eventually, just like every other un-retired number. It just won't be for awhile since no player wants to take the number of a recently traded fan favorite and take the beating from the fans/media for it.

If you meant he's wearing 26 in Edmonton sorry I misconstrued your post.

OK. Here is a list of players and the #'s they wore when they were / are with the Canes. I didn't break it down by years, cause it was a real pain. NOTABLE players who have had multiple #'s while with the Canes are highlighted. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you messed up on Gleason. He wore #8 his first year here. He now wears #42, not 64.

Other than that, good work :)

Holy smokes! That's AWESOME! Thanks for the hard work...I often try to recall who wore what on the "obscure" players. I'll print this off and keep it for future reference.

IMHO:

POST OF THE WEEK, based on sheer effort alone!

Again - THANKS!

If there are omissions and errors, I apologize, I did a lot of digging around (www.hockeydb.com) and this was the information I found.

They are a pretty good database when it comes to player from the past and present when you are trying to track down who played where and when.

I didn't include players from the 2007-2008 season, so that is why Ruutu is not on the list.

Congrats, and even though you missed some, as they were corrected, still good job. And just to put it out there, some of the guys wore different numbers while in Hartford (Wes also wore 20 and 22).

Eh, did I miss something, when did Seidenberg where #98?

I don't think you missed anything dude. I really don't remember him wearing "98", nor can I find that anywhere.

I didn't include players from the 2007-2008 season, so that is why Ruutu is not on the list.

Which explains the other missing 44, 14, and 77!! :)

And may I also congratulate this board, for knowing your knowledge of Canes jersey numbers!!

(P.S.: I'm told to be more positive... so there goes  )

Roster updated on the homepage:

22 Melichar

25 Pitkanen

33 Babchuk

Well, there you have it. Melichar will be wearing Commodores jersey. Surprising though Bab's will not be in his old number 48. Wonder why? And of course, we all picked Pitkanen.

Now, if O'Neil makes a dramatic return, will he be wearing 92? Only time will tell.

how come no one has ever worn #69?

Obviously for obvious reasons! Main one would be getting laughed right off the ice!

Man that sucks that Babchuck isn't going to be wearing 48. I loved seeing that number out on the ice for our team, I feel like it's a good strong number (I know that is lame but I mean a number is like a players signature out on the ice). 33 just doesn't do it for me.
