Sunday gametime?

Recommended Posts

I have heard a rumor, but not confirmation, that our game time on Sunday will depend on the status of the series between the Penguins and the Flyers.

If the Pens/Flyers series goes to a game 6, that game will be held on Sunday afternoon and ours on Sunday evening. But if the Pens/Flyers are finished before Sunday, our game will likely be scheduled for the afternoon. Again this is rumor and not anything official, but I would suspect it's going to be another couple of days before anyone knows for sure. Pens are currently up 3-1 on the Flyers so it's possible their series could end at Game 5.

The playoff schedule from nhl.com shows that the only games on Sunday are the caps/rangers at 2pm (if necessary) and Car/NJ. Car/NJ is the only game on versus.

I looked at the versus website hoping it might be updated with a time, and I found they don't even have the right DATES for Car/NJ games 6 and 7.

Does anyone know why the gametime for Sunday is still listed as TBA? I'm trying to juggle my kids' soccer tournaments and other commitments, and figure out how I can get to the important game  When will gametime be announced? Thanks.

TSN website says 7:30 - don't know how reliable that is. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?fid=684''>http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?fid=684' target="_blank">http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?fid=684[/post] Also trying to juggle soccer tournament, so I feel your pain.

I'd bet my truck it will be an early evening start, give or take an hour. We could be the only series playing that day, but we're not getting bumped to the afternoon because that would mean NBC coverage, and we're not playing Pittsburgh, Washington, New York, Philly, or Detroit... so we know THAT'S not gonna happen.

Mike Maniscalco was asked during his live chat yesterday. He said if Pittsburgh/Philly have a game 6, they will take the afternoon time slot and we will take the evening slot, 7:30pm. If Pittsburgh finishes the series in 5, we play in the afternoon at 2pm.

On Time Warner's Program Guide, it shows our game at 7:30 on FSCarolinas, and 7:00pm on VS. And it shows VS having an Indy race at 4:00 in the afternoon, so not sure if they would pre-empt that for our game if we moved to a 2pm start?

Game 6 for Pitt/Philly is on Saturday, so I don't understand how this game is a factor.

I heard the exact same thing.

I'm guessing he just got his NBC games confused (Game 6 of Pittsburgh/Philly is Saturday, Game 6 of Washington/New York is set for Sunday). If the Rangers take the next two games and win in 5, I guess the Canes/Devils Game 6 would be bumped up to Sunday afternoon on NBC. Otherwise, we'd play at 7pm or 7:30pm on VS that night. That makes the most sense.

There were initially 3 potential games scheduled for Sunday. Vancouver eliminated the Blues, so there are now only 2 games possible, the Canes/Devils and Caps/Rangers if needed. The Rangers could end that series by winning tonight and Friday, leaving us as the only game played on Sunday.

NBC has first rights to broadcast a game in the afternoon. Versus gets the second pick. NBC will obviously take the Rangers/Caps game for the higher ratings of NYC, if that game is played. That means we get the evening time slot on Versus. If there is only 1 game played, then it will be on NBC, in the afternoon.

It's very likely that we won't know Sunday's game time until the Caps win another game, ensuring a Game 6 for them, or the Rangers win tonight and Friday, ending that series in 5.

The nice benefit of having this board be the official board of the Canes organization, is that any and all updates will be posted as soon as they are available right here in the Tracking the Storm Blog section.

Closing this thread just because Paul already has this covered in the blog. Thanks to all who have updated some info here.
