Airport Ritual - Playoffs Canes Style

Recommended Posts

i would think they will be flying back immediately after Friday's game, we will need to find out if they fly into the same hanger and the expected touchdown. it will be a late night.

any info regarding this would be awesome! i live near the airport and would love to welcome them home!

someone on here has connections at the airport and usually knows when the flight is due back (even when it has left). The guys usually get home from Newark at around 11 or midnight.

funny we should be talking about this, as I just watched the 200 Raising Cane dvd, and all the players were in awe of the fans for being at the airport to welcome them home :) :)

I'm just so excited we get to just talk about this again. I cannot wait for tomorrow. I normally go at the end of series, or if there was a big crucial away game in the Cup finals so I'm not sure if I'm ready to break that because it worked pretty well last time around. ;)

I remember in 2006 the RDU Airport Webpage had guidlines for fans meeting the Canes. One of the funnier things was no barbeques. The Oiler Fans got wind of that and really made it funnier, picturing us all tailgating with barbeques at the airport. Their sterotype of us was taking our barbeques everywhere we go since their pregame showed the tailgating at the RBC.

One of the more touching moments was going to the airport after the Canes had been blown out of Game Six of the Finals. Kevyn Adams' daughter came running to him as he came down the stairs with as "I love you Daddy" sign.

Here's the link to the schedule of the Canes' flight to NJ:

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/PCE3937

On Friday, the link should show a return to RDU. This is a charter service and if the plane makes other flights between now and Friday, the flight # in the box at the left may increase by two or three. I doubt that the plane will sit on the ground in Newark for several days. To find the return time, type a new flight # in the box and it should show the return.

I would love to get out there. Can anyone who has welcomed them home in the past shed some light on what happens? Do the fans congregate in baggage claim or something?

No, the team takes a charter and does not use the terminal. The ramp they use is north of the new terminal at a small hangar just south of UPS. They are within a fenced in area and you can see them come down the steps off the plane.

I love this website, have used it for years. Easiest thing to do if the flight number changes will be to search the route, EWR-RDU, on Friday and look for Pace flights. With the Hooters Airline dead (which they carried), I don't think they have any regular service from EWR anymore.

I would love to do this but I wouldn't have any idea where to go.

drive past terminal A and proceed to the UPS/Fedex area, half a mile up or so you will see canes fans.

Newarks airport code is: KEWR look under departures for PCExxxx It is usually scheduled to leave about

an hour after the game. I'm not sure where the plane stops. There is a terminal on the hill across from the tower

Its on the East side of observation park.

Just confirmed this is the correct flight number for the return...currently scheduled to arrive at 12:30am...here's hoping it's after a win!
