Power Rankings, Fact or Fiction?

Recommended Posts

Every one of these Power Rankings had Montreal pegged to finish 12 in East way out of the playoffs back in September.

Just thought I'd throw that out there for all those upset about the Canes being placed low.

Not upset at all, I think the've pretty close all year.

The thing I notice about these Power Rankings is that sports analysts are sports analysts for a reason. They're simply not good enough to be NHL management material.

They're great at assessing what's there, but horrible at assessing what is yet to come, particularly when it comes to the youth of the game. I find most sports analysts lean closely to veteran status players and who does/doesn't have injuries. When they're rankings prove to be way off, it's usually because various rookies or softmore players did or didn't break out.

Funny thing about your statement.... The part bolded could be applied to all members of the message board community. The trick is to know when you're an amateur and not take yourself to seriously.

If I was posting Power Rankings on the internet and getting paid to do it, I'd be inclined to agree with you.
